Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use Miro to organize all sorts of projects, Jira stories, and also meetings. We have boards where our Jira stories are planned out (we use Kanban) and everyone can see the status of the implementation of the single steps. Also, everyone can make some comments if there are any issues and the scope of the story is documented there. We also use Miro boards for meetings like retrospectives, where everyone from the team can add notes to different topics and we can discuss them afterward. We also write down actions after discussing all topics and therefore we can keep track of these actions and if they are being carried out.
  • Teamwork is super easy.
  • There's a lot of space for all sorts of things to be written down on the board.
  • It gives the user a good overview on everything.
  • It is fun that you can work on the board with multiple users at the same time.
  • It is very multifunctional.
  • In my experience, it doesn't work good in every browser.
  • Improved productivity.
  • Improved cross-team collaboration.
  • Improved communication.
  • More knowledge for everyone.
I think Miro is very easy to use. When first starting with Miro there are a lot of tips showing the user how to use Miro effectively. Despite that, you are not being overwhelmed with all the functions and the tips aren't disturbing in any way. The interface is very user-friendly and intuitive, so you don't really have to search for a function for long. I think overall it is clearly arranged and not too loaded.
Miro is very multifunctional and can be used for a broad variety of activities, so I think it can be integrated into our everyday work very easily. Also, it facilitates our everyday work in a lot of ways, such as not having to write a ton of messages or emails to inform everyone and maybe forgetting someone important here. Or not having to ask around to find someone who can answer your question relating to a project. You can just have a look at the board and will find all the answers you are searching for. And if you are not finding an answer you can at least see which colleagues are involved with this project, so finding someone who can help you won't take such a long time.
In the current situation (Covid-19) where we have to work from home, Miro helped us a lot to collaborate on projects. Since we cannot meet in person and have to have meetings via Teams, we always use Miro boards while holding our meetings and document everything there. If someone is not available when the meeting is being held, he can then simply look at the Miro board and see which changes were made there. I think Miro helped us a lot, since we had communication problems all along, even when we were still able to meet in person in the office. By using Miro we have powerful documentation and if there are any questions we can write the answers down on the board as well, so that everyone gets the knowledge and not just one person holds it. Also, other teams can look at the boards and see if there are any takeaways or impacts for their own products.

We used Trello for a while, but it is by far not as versatile as Miro is. I think the usage of Trello is really restricted regarding the multifunctional use of Mira since in Trello you can only add cards to the board and not write as free as you can in Miro. Miro is like a whiteboard where you can do all sorts of stuff, whereas Trello is more of a kanban-based board with less individuality.
One time we tested our teamwork by playing some simple games on a Miro board and it was very fun and also very revealing to what we can do better in the future. Currently, we are implementing a completely new feature and there are many things that we had to discuss, define, and document, so Jira was too confusing to use here. We organized everything in a kanban board in Miro and now everyone working on this project has a good overview of the whole implementation, issues, bugs, decisions, and the project scope. We also do our Release retrospectives using Miro. We create a board where we have multiple questions, like what went wrong or what was good and things like that. Then in the retro everyone from the team writes down his thoughts on the release cycle and we discuss every note together. This way we can determine if we had the same issues on different products and what actions we can take to fasten up the release.
