Miro is a great visual collaboration tool thats easy to use and flexible.
Overall Satisfaction with Miro
We use Miro in a number of different ways. On a weekly basis we review and discuss our planning in a visual way. This makes it easy for 6 teams 35people total to get an understand of who is doing what AND have an indication of the workload of each team. On a daily basis we use it as a collaboration tool between team members and across teams. We collect links to other tools and documents in the corresponding overviews or collaboration whiteboards. Personally I also use Miro to create presentations and trainings as everything is collected in one place and it allows me to create visual presentations effortlessly.
Pros
- Encourage visual thinking and working.
- Provide a flexible tool to collaborate easily.
- Intuitive workflow, low barrier to onboard/ 'train' new members.
- Support links to other documents, often visually.
- Give a level of play to digital workshops/meetings/collaborations.
Cons
- Editorial rights, as an expert user I want to help others (the creators) of the file but I'm not able to start timers or lock certain templates.
- Anonymous voting is great, but we still prefer (visual) voting dots.
- Ordering presentations from left to right/top to bottom with a button in stead of ordering one by one.
- Export to pdf, if you make a presentation to export parts of it easily. The 'export selected' has not once worked for me.
- I've reduced intake meetings/workshops by 66% (from 3 to 1) as presentations created in Miro naturally turn into collaborations where you can edit those slides directly. Even better if you're using a tablet+pen to add notes and Sketch for a client.
- The first board always serves as a collection point where all the links and documents are found. I've never had a client asked for deliverables more than once in a collaboration.
- We had a two hour collaboration workshop set up in days with participants from 9 countries and 4 continents.
The corona lockdown changed our organisations focus to hybrid working. And Miro is a big part of this change. I can honestly say that with the use of Miro our current way of working has improved from our previous f2f meetings. And f2f workshops are often digitalised to document or continue collaboration afterwards.
During the summer break we have the advantage to stay (and enjoy) holiday locations as we can work remotely increasing our personal life enjoyment.

Miro has a low barrier to start and onboard. Miro is focussed on collaboration and not design. Miro has advanced workshop tools and features that help organising workshops. Miro has an intuitive way of working that encourages team members to set up boards themselves and experiment without fear or hesitation.
