Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I use Miro daily as a data principal engineer to draft, document, and share the solution for our architectural decisions. Some of the functionalities I use include: - Exporting individual or whole boards to PDF to create workflow documentation - Using architectural diagrams in security reviews, which are later referenced with standard AWS or Azure icons - Sharing boards with colleagues, both internal and external, via password and managing access within the team.

Pros

  • Diagramming, creation of workflows.
  • Exporting to PDF parts or complete boards.
  • User management and sharing.

Cons

  • When creating text, I'm not able to put different fonts inside the same text box.
  • Exporting individual images can only be done with screenshots, so I cannot download an icon, for example.
  • It could have a small LLM assistant that explains a whole Frame, which will help document.
  • Perhaps creating a presentation mode that allows you to enumerate frames and navigate sequentially through each one would add significant functionality.
  • Critical for our architectural diagrams, which I personally use with Cybersecurity.
  • Sharing the diagrams with teams and exporting the outcome for code documentation.
  • Sharing and collaborating with partners at design time.
I did not participate.
I have not integrated it.
In my experience, it has been beneficial to collaborate with our outsourced vendors when designing architectural solutions. We hold working meetings where all participants contribute to the solution by adding or removing parts and adding notes. This process is even effective in a Zoom or Teams meeting. This speeds up the convergence into a final draft or version 1 of the solution.
Diagramming and shaping elements are much better in Miro; in fact, I typically do the diagrams in Miro and then copy and paste them as slides in powerpoint. Online collaboration is much more intuitive and real-time in Miro, as you can see the different cursors for all the collaborators at the same time.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

To me, diagramming and collaborating are the perfect tools. On the other hand, using it for presentations is not the best option, but it has potential. It is falling behind in terms of LLM support, as other up-to-date software tools are adding. I did already a comment on how to use AI in this tool.
