Miro is the core consulting tool
Overall Satisfaction with Miro
A facilitator's best friend, Miro is a top 3 tool in consulting. Every time I'm forced to use an equivalent, I wish we were using Miro instead.
All our playbooks and workshops live in Miro, and it's our go to tool for elaborating points of view.
It's the one tool post integration we invested the effort to make sure we kept access.
Pros
- Whiteboarding
- Knowledge Management
- Workshopping
Cons
- Importing boards from backups is somewhat cumbersome
- Managing access to boards is high touch
- No first party infrastructure as code support
- By using Miro to perform flow engineering, we've been able to double the throughput of engineering teams
- Through facilitating workshops with Miro we have unlocked millions of dollars worth of consulting revenue
- We use Miro to build out many components of our internal operating model, and to facilitate the building of client operating models
The ability to rapidly map with the post-its and other shapes has made it become my defacto tool for visually exploring any problem I come across.
Also the ability to bring in external documentation, such as powerpoints, PDFs and documents directly into the board is critical in bringing together a single pane of glass, rather than having documentation split across multiple systems.
While we have sharepoint as a file storage and sharing platform. We generally find that pulling documentation into Miro itself is superior and helps bring people together on the same page.
Miro is generally the first point of call for us to share knowledge, understanding and points of view. Between that and GitHub, we generally make little use of other tools.
The main alternative we run into is Microsoft Whiteboard, served via teams. While it is functional, the experience is lacking against Miro.
It is decidedly less polished, and the boards are generally one use and throwaway, versus Miro boards which are long-lived and deliver value over and above the workshop itself.
