Overall Satisfaction with monday.com

In late 2019, our team was growing and while our roles remained interconnected, we needed a more robust and collaborative set of tools than Outlook calendar deadlines and shared OneNote books. We wanted a software that would help us collaborate, track projects, submit task requests and build new workflows. It needed to be affordable since we are a small nonprofit. Monday.com helped us stay on track when we were remote in 2020-2021 and the team continues to use Monday, especially for our creative requests and major fundraising events.

As a nonprofit, our team probably doesn't use as many features as some. We have high level boards for yearly overviews and planning; detailed boards for 3 major fundraising events that involve the team, outside vendors and volunteer committees; a board and form for creative requests; a modified sales tracking board that we use to track donor prospects and stewardship; and some individuals use boards for specific project management.

Pros

  • flexibility
  • collaboration
  • automation

Cons

  • notifications can be overwhelming
  • more mobile friendly boards
  • better nonprofit support
  • Modifying boards for our use has taken a lot of time
  • Increased productivity for fundraising events manager
  • Increased ability to deliver creative requests on time
Monday is easy to use but for us, it was like jumping into the deep end of the pool. When we first adopted it, we spent a lot of time filtering through boards, automations, etc. that just are workable for a team our size. The automations on the boards often create too much noise for our team. Perhaps a larger department would be able to manage better as the work is spread out over more employees.
The Monday support team doesn't really know how to support nonprofits so we're kind of on our own outside of true tech issues. The boards, many plug-ins and automations are really built for for-profit sales teams, etc.
Monday has been very reliable for us so we have not experienced any loss of service or major technical issues that could affect our productivity.
