Overall Satisfaction with Parallels Remote Application Server

We are using Parallels Remote Application Server as an alternative to Citrix or RDS. We use Parallels Remote Application Server to optimize application delivery, and ease of maintenance by having applications reside on a single server. This also allows us to test quickly, and deploy new software to all kinds of users, from on-prem to remote.
  • Ease of deployment
  • Scales well
  • Runs a wide variety of applications
  • Support- we have been trying for a while to get one on one support for an idea, and no one has been available to assist.
  • Initial setup was complex (has gotten easier over time).
  • Branding isn't straightforward.
  • This product has enabled us to deliver custom solutions to bandwidth-challenged remote sites.
  • This product has dramatically simplified our application deployment process, especially for remote sites.
  • This product has decreased our support times on applications where we can troubleshoot on the server, and eliminate the need to visit disparate desktop environments for quirky issues.
We did not evaluate other solutions because cost and time to market were critical issues, and Parallels Remote Application Server allowed us to deploy fast, and at a lower cost than their competitors.
We have benefited here because we can add farms when needed and quickly deploy apps with a few clicks. It is simple once it's up and running.
We are not using the browser interface. We have decided to use the installed application launcher exclusively. We have deployed some apps to the iOS platform to enable users to run Windows apps on iOS, which has been a big hit for some!
We are exclusively a Hyper-V shop, so this wasn't a consideration for us. However, it does work seamlessly with Hyper-V.
We are not yet using MFA (we leverage VPN as our security layer). We are going to be implementing MFA within the next quarter, however.
I was happy with pre-sales support. I have been disappointed though with post-sales support. Anytime we have an issue, it goes to a level one tech offshore, and their responses are canned and impersonal. I would very much like to return to the pre-sales level of support, as it was stellar.

Parallels Remote Application Server is well suited for scenarios where a thin-client architecture is desired. Not as well suited for on-prem scenarios where bandwidth is not an issue (only productivity gain here is with ease of deployment of client-server apps.)
