Paycom is clear and simple but may not be your answer for large complex payrolls

Overall Satisfaction with Paycom

Paycom is used to pay employees across 3 entities. Payroll is processed by a 1 person department for over 500 employees. Paycom is simple to use and covers the basic payroll processing needs. It is also used by HR for benefits and recruitment. There are a lot of things that have to be manually done due to complex union contract rules that Paycom can not support at this time. Reporting is clear and it is very easy to create your own reports based off what you need.

You are assigned a specific representative but they are typically very hard to get a hold of for immediate issues. The easiest way to communicate is through email and setup a call however, this is not helpful when you are processing on a deadline. When you call in, you will always be able to speak with someone to help but they can't always help you. I have been told numerous times that I would need my account manager to fix the problem I was calling in about but since they were unavailable, I would have to just wait until they get my emails. I do not blame the account manager for this, as a previous employee from a different payroll company, I know they are assigned way too many clients and expected to answer every call coming in (even when it isn't their client). [I believe] they make it impossible for account managers to succeed with the amount of work they are given. Every service person I have spoken to has always been nice even if not helpful at times.
  • Simple and easy processing.
  • Employee app is useful and clear for employees.
  • Clear reporting.
  • Not advanced enough for complex PTO rules.
Previously used Paychex and ADP WorforceNow.

Paycom is simpler to use than both Paychex and ADP. Paychex is confusing and their reporting isn't as clear as Paycom. ADP has more features and is better suited for large complex payrolls and is able to automate several functions that Paycom isn't capable of. If you have a smaller payroll ADP may be too robust to be useful.

Do you think Paycom delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Paycom's feature set?

Yes

Did Paycom live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Paycom go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Paycom again?

Yes

I think Paycom is best suited for smaller companies with non complex PTO setups. Once payroll has been started, adding in information has to be done by starting completely from the beginning. When working with large companies that could mean hours of extra work for simple mistakes.
