Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

We use Paylocity for our payroll, onboarding, and recruiting. We had used Paylocity for benefits administration but due to how long it takes to set up a new vendor (90 days) we went with another option for benefits enrollment instead. Payroll has been smooth as well as recruiting and onboarding.

Pros

  • Our Account Executive is still always available to help, even through we have been using Paylocity since 2020.
  • There is someone almost always there when I call to answer and help with any needs I have.
  • Payroll has never been late!

Cons

  • Having to wait 90 days to set up EDI files for new vendors is way too long.
  • Service@ and Benefitssupport@ can't communicate with eachother. If I send an email to one and it needs to go to the other, I receive an email back a day later telling me I need to contact the other. It slows down the process.
  • Time and Labor and HR and Payroll are stand alone. Meaning, for some data analysis two separate reports must be pulled and married up. It is quite timeconsuming.
  • Paylocity is expensive. We switched insurance vendors a few times last year. Each time they charged us $1k and it took 90 days (or longer in some cases).
  • There are little glitchy things that go on. For example, for about a year now attendance points that are cleared in Time and Labor magically show back up. I was told this is a known issue but it has gone on so long, not sure who actually "knows" about it.
  • When everything is entered correctly, it is smooth and a timesaver. It is the one offs that seem to really end up taking an unnecessary amount of time.
The EDI files that are already set up run smoothly, same time, every time. It is the addition of any new ones that cause an issue. I dread every time we make a change because I know how painful it is going to be.
Community has been great! We have a largely remote population so we have used Community to build engagement and camaraderie. We had dress-up days where even though working from home, they can participate by posting a photo on Community. A couple of weeks ago was National Dog Day and you can believe our Community was full of posts!
We were considering moving from Paylocity to BambooHR after a demo but with all the issues we have had changing anything with Paylocity, I am frankly too nervous to touch it. If things are this bad now while we are customers, how bad will it get when we try to sever that relationship?

Paylocity has been great for payroll. It has always run smoothly. I would not recommend Paylocity for benefits administration due to the 90 day lag for setting up an EDI. Also, during open enrollment last year, the changes were not made in time for payroll. So, everyone's check had the wrong benefits amounts deducted. Rather than fix this for me, Paylocity gave me the name of two reports to pull and basically figure it out for myself. It took me an entire day to remedy.
