Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
We use Paylocity as our HRIS system. We use the Payroll, HR, Benefits, Onboarding and Time & Labor features. Before using Paylocity, a lot of our administrative tasks were manual coupled with a lot of pushing papers. Our open enrollment process was outdated, staff had to complete paper enrollment applications and HR had to fax said forms to the broker and the broker sent them to the carrier. A lot of the features that we use allowed us to be more efficient and focus our time on strategic initiatives.
Pros
- They offer an employee self service portal, which allows employees to review pay, make changes to taxes, request or cancel vacation days etc.
- The benefit open enrollment is seamless
- Customer Service Support, especially the our assigned benefit account manager is amazing.
- Tracking time and paid time off
Cons
- The FMLA feature is something that should be approved. At this time, I use a different tracking system to manage FMLA and other leaves.
- The ability for salaried personnel not to have to clock-in/out, it should be assumed they are present and require the employee or supervisor to list the absence.
- More efficient with administrative task
- Employee access to their employee data
- Limit errors and corrections
Paylocity has improved our processes as it offers automation features. It starts from onboarding, to payroll, then benefits, and so on. We have moved away from having hard copy employee files, everything is electronic. This saves on paper, space, and human error. While we do not use the recruitment feature, the onboarding feature is good. We have received nothing but positive feedback from new hires.
We do not use the community and peer recognition features. Working at a school it's important that our recognition feature is accessible by all, including students. We do not have the premium video feature but we do have access to creating surveys. Paylocity provided a elevate conference that showcases features that you may not be using or not using well. While I have access to creating staff surveys, I have not used this feature but I'm looking forward to it.
In our all fairness, the above products were used while working at other organizations. When I first started with my current employer, they did not have any systems or procedures in place. My predecessor was using Microsoft Access to maintain employee data. All processes were paper. I was not managing payroll but that was antiquated as well. I recommend that if you're searching for a HRIS system, request and reach out to references that are similar to your industry.
