Overall Satisfaction with Procore
I manage commercial solar projects for an owner/operator. The projects are located across the US, on various terrains (and rooftops). They range from 300kw to 20MW so there is a lot of customizing necessary in every project. Procore allows the project team to interface with the site reporting and project information on a day to day basis with accuracy and efficiency. Procore has been especially helpful at identifying problems before they become significant enough to affect progress. Our contractors and QA/QC can upload photos as observations or in their reporting so that every scope gets enough attention and oversight.
Pros
- Tracking observations from origin through remediation and up to closeout
- Procore Drive- Utilizing this app for submittal creation and schedule creation/editing
- Meeting minutes
Cons
- I'd like to be able to create a "parent project" for portfolios with multiple projects, so that certain updates can be applied to "all" or "some." Being able to process a contractor's bill for work across multiple projects as 1 invoice would literally cut my tedious pencil-pushing work by up to 87% in some cases if it were possible.
- Meetings tool was improved recently but opened up new headaches for me and my colleagues. We'd like to find ways where action items can be identified within the body of the meeting and extracted so that we can track them from one week to the next with greater accountability.
- I would like to be able to "create task" for someone from just about every page on Procore. These could be related to all sorts of scopes, big and small, and would especially help senior managers and company resources like estimators keep track of the long list of projects for which they play a role
- The growing pains for onboarding employees takes about 4-6mo before they understand how to use all relevant tools
- Efficiency was improved from analog procedures for processing financials and payables
- Efficiency was diminished for taking meeting minutes and distributing them with understandable action items displayed at the top
- Conversations with contractors were made more efficient because they can pose an RFI that won't get buried in an inbox or won't be memorialized after a phone call.
Boomi integration to have invoices push Oracle -- Useful, but prohibitively expensive so that our organization has ended our subscription. Procore "agents" in Microsoft Outlook - Still unsure if this works for anyone at our organization, it always crashes.
Tracking RFIs, Invoices, and Punshlist Items - Reduced our need for Microsoft suite services and shared document usage. Utilizing the Procore page eliminated bulky spreadsheets in multiple ways

Procore is a construction workers favorite when pitted against the above, but runs into issues with the white-collar side of the business, who tend to understand other platforms better and find Procore to be too clunky to go looking for information on their own. Everyone admits that Salesforce and Procore and the most complete, of the above apps I listed.
