Overall Satisfaction with Rippling

We use it for onboarding (paperwork & signatures as well as IT assets), timecards / approvals, and payroll for both employees and contractors. It serves as an organizational portal for holiday / vacation time & requests. As a startup, Rippling has streamlined a lot of the workflow of typical HR taskings and payroll execution. Rippling's expense reporting and credit card are the easiest I have used to date.

Pros

Cons

  • Timecards are a bit clunky to enter lunches & breaks without creating multiple clocked-in times for a given day which drives higher approval burden for approvers
  • Mobile app authentication is a bit clunky signing in then going to the web sign-in then authenticating on my device then finally into the app
  • We could not figure out how to allow employees to schedule PTO before they had accrued it (earn X days per month throughout the year).
  • Rippling has given us a very professional means of onboarding and tracking time and payroll for employees and contractors, allowing us to spend our time on other value-adding efforts.
  • Rippling's expense reporting and approvals are super easy, saving employee time in the entry process and making the experience pleasant, resulting in improved employee engagement and morale.
Even better than my experience with Concur for ease of expense entry and approval. With Rippling, a large part of my expense is already filled out by the software when the charge hits for vendors it recognizes and by checking my history, which greatly minimizes redundant entry and time wasted. Easy to scan receipt and have much of the data filled in from the receipt recognition tech.

Very easy to navigate. Well written software with a modern user interface. I appreciate the notifications, built-in reminders and workflows, and how it anticipates and takes care of data entry where it can. During employee onboarding, it presents a very positive and professional first impression for new employees through its information entry and document review / approval workflows, payroll setup, etc. This is huge for a startup company that has limited resources to spend on managing these kinds of activities. Expense reporting and approvals are better than tools I've used at very large companies.
Rippling is well suited for small business with limited staff or non-existent HR departments looking to semi-automate onboarding workflows of common HR functions (e.g. W4 entry, non-compete & other new employee document signatures, etc.) as well as managing time and attendance, payroll and expense reporting. It has a lot of out-of-the-box functionality for companies with limited budgets and looking for a software that can grow with them.
