Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use RUN by ADP for payroll processing and compliance.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Very easy to keep track of employee records.
Very intuitive interface for inputting payroll.
Flexible, easily allows for commission payments.

Cons

functionality: I wish it were easier to copy and paste numerals from Excel. Now when we paste anything with a comma and/or $ sign and then try to delete the comma or $, it deletes the whole entry.
Being alert that we may be wrong every time we pay out a big commission payment—or a small one—seems annoying sometimes. I wish we could turn that off. I know some people like it; you don't need to get rid of it for everyone.
Getting information on Workers' Compensation, Disability, and 401 (k) is via another ADP division/branch, but I wish it were even easier to move from RUN to the other divisions.

Return on Investment

We have saved almost $2,000 so far this year already on payroll admin compared to our previous vendor.
I used to spend 2+ hours doing payroll every two weeks; now it's 30 minutes, tops.
Collecting tax info is a 5-10 minute process once a quarter. It used to be longer with a different vendor.

Employee Self-Service

They love it. We don't have to spend time providing documents to them, and they feel a lot of agency and control. We both love the total transparency—for employer and employee. We have confidence.

Time Saving Features

Yes, it saves me at least two hours a week, maybe more.

RUN ADP Mobile App

When I travel, I still have control over payroll. Very important to me.

Alternatives Considered

Paychex Flex

Better value, lower cost. Much easier to use friendlier CSRs.

Likelihood to Recommend

Small businesses with commissions are perfect candidates for ADP Run. Super big businesses that run lots of the same information every payroll probably need a different scale solution.

The workshops offered by ADP for its RUN clients are exceptional. Robert Ciccone and the whole staff of the in-person workshops make such a difference in making us smaller clients feel understood and valued. The presentations, all of them, on strengths, on payroll, on compliance -- all were exceptional. If you have a chance to attend one of these in-person, do it!

Usability

I've had only the most minor problems, but the offboarding in the middle of a pay period is a bit of a hurdle. A tiny hurdle, but I bet ADP can fix it!
