Overall Satisfaction with RUN Powered by ADP®

It has been nice to look through the Handbook Wizard and confirm everything we need is included in our handbook. I could see how this would be extremely beneficial when starting from scratch as I know it has taken years to hone and develop our company's handbook. Ziprecruiter also came in handy when we were hiring this spring, it helped get our job posting out there and eventually help us find the right candidate.
We use ADP to process our payroll and tax liabilities. We shopped around to several different companies before finally settling on this one. They seemed to be the easiest to implement and navigate, with the best reviews and came highly recommended. This has made running our biweekly payroll a breeze, and we are excited to try out other features as they are needed in the future.

Pros

  • Easy Payroll Processing.
  • Customer Service.
  • Tracking Tax Liabilities.
  • Onboarding new employees.
  • Updating Employee Manual

Cons

  • SUI Tax Liability gave us some issues getting correctly.
  • Submitting Tax Forms.
  • Report Options.
  • It's efficient, taking half the time the previous system did to run payroll.
  • Customer Service is quick to resolve any issues that arise.
Most of my employees do not use the portal, but when they have questions, it is nice to be able to refer them to it to look up things like their paystubs and PTO balances. I know at least one also has it selected to have a paperless W2 which is great convenience.
Yes I feel like ADP has done a great job of maximizing efficiency when it comes to running payroll processes. The fact that I don't have to really think about payroll taxes most of the time is great. Being able to reliably run payroll in under 10 minutes has saved so much time.
I do not use the app currently.
We moved away from QBO because the customer service was terrible. I was finding errors in my payroll taxes and having to explain it to the "professionals" and having to contact them several times before things were corrected. Also briefly tried another web based program but had similar issues. The ease of use for ADP is a breath of fresh air in comparison.

Using RUN Powered by ADP®

1 - I am the only one in our company that actively uses the program. The president does have his own log in that can be used if I am unavailable. A couple employees have signed up for the employee portal in the past but I do not believe it is actually used.
1 - ADP is set up in a way that it is pretty fool proof to run payroll. As long as you have an accurate time sheet for each employee, it is just a matter of plugging in data. It does help to have at least some knowledge of payroll in order to catch things that may be amiss.
  • Payroll
  • Handbook Updates
  • Onboarding Employees
  • Payroll Taxes
  • Handbook wizard was a pleasant surprise
  • Recruiting services
  • Further use of HR resources
  • 1099s
The only reason there is contemplation of switching would be because the project management site we use, BQE, is now offering GUSTO built into the website at a lower monthly cost. We are waiting to see how it runs before making any decisions though as it's just left beta.

Evaluating RUN Powered by ADP® and Competitors

Yes - QBO. We found it to be a very unreliable program, where the customer service was subpar and I had repeatedly found errors in my payroll taxes.
  • Cloud Solutions
  • Ease of Use
We wanted something easy to use, in case someone has to step in they could figure it out quickly.
I wouldn't, I feel we made the right choice for us at the time.

RUN Powered by ADP® Implementation

Implementation was pretty quick and easy. There was someone available when questions did rise.
  • Confirming setup for ME taxes were correct
  • AK SUI Setup

RUN Powered by ADP® Support

ProsCons
Quick Resolution
Good followup
Knowledgeable team
Problems get solved
No escalation required
Immediate help available
Support cares about my success
Quick Initial Response
Need to explain problems multiple times
When setting up the account I was very concerned my payroll taxes were not being calculated correctly, as the last two programs had struggled to do this properly. They were very thorough and knowledgeable when looking for reassurances.
Sometimes it feels like playing phone tag to get to the right people or that you have to repeat yourself in the chat several times before actually getting to the solution, but we do typically get to the solution.
