Overall Satisfaction with SAP Crystal

I have used and designed SAP Crystal Reports for some different companies. I have tried and used others report products too, but I think that this software is really good. With Crystal Reports I have created a lot of reports for different departments, (financial, IT, direction, sales), you need to study just a little bit before starting to use the product and to be completely autonomous, but in not too much time you can get excellent results.
  • Grouping sections are really useful.
  • The grid in the designer report is perfect.
  • You can modify the report directly on the preview tab.
  • I had some problems with the display incorporating reports on web pages.
  • Graphs can be more attractive.
  • Renew a little the designer mode.
It is not really easy to make a comparison with the other competitors' software, I think that every software is appropriate for your needs, certainly SAP Crystal Reports has a few gaps, and if you choose it as a final product it is because it allows you to change down to the smallest detail to the final result in terms of graphics.
I do not think there is a specific scenario in which to use or not use SAP Crystal Reports. Obviously a company that needs to have detailed reports and financial can use them in full. It is not optimized for the analytical side, tables and matrices; purely statistical reports are quite difficult to handle with SAP Crystal Reports.

Using SAP Crystal

5 - I was mainly involved in installing and developing crystal solutions from different customers, so I counted an average of the users who used the product in different companies, usually the type of user who uses it varies according to the company's needs, but usually the departments involved are the commercial departments, the management, the administration and in some cases the IT departments.

Surely to approach the use of crystal report is advisable to have the basics of developing, not necessarily high-level but the important thing is to have a minimum of knowledge regarding the use of basic functions.
It is also advisable to make SAP training courses to understand in depth the logic of Crystal report and its different grouping sections, etc.
  • in-house report
  • online report
  • training
  • development of complex reporting infrastructures based on universes sap
  • reports referring to multiple data sources
  • change of infrastructure reports and cloning of the previous vs. crystal reports
  • replication of a mask of an accounting program transformed into a very complex parametric report
  • Use of crystal with universes
  • custom templates based on users
