Overall Satisfaction with ScienceLogic SL1

SL1 is being used for a Fortune 500 client as a means for network and server monitoring. It is being used by a particular BU at the client and is not rolled out throughout the whole organization. SL1 addresses our needs for network monitoring and alerting to the NOC for resolution.
  • Flexibility to customize almost everything, thresholds (per device), access, etc.
  • Amount of data in product, closest to single pane of glass.
  • Ease of use, navigating product is simple. New UI is great.
  • Ability to utilize Downstream Suppression within different organizations. Monitoring multiple organizations requires an all or none with downstream suppression.
  • Access and hooks to the product can be cumbersome and almost too granular.
  • No configuration management or Netflow data. These additions could be game-changers for the product.
  • Solutions are delivered through support.
  • Responds to industry standards.
  • Reduces time to integrate new customers.
Our level of visibility with the use of SL1 has remained constant. With SL1 we have been able to increase the number of alerts and events and allowed our organization to become more proactive instead of reactive. When we are able to fully integrate AIOps we will become an automated solution for any network issues.
We plan to utilize the AI Ops to help business growth as the ability to automate solutions within the product will allow for our engineers to utilize their time more efficiently and drive more automation that will allow us to support more customers with less. AI Ops will bring us closer to the more with less that every company strives to achieve.
SL1 integrates into our processes as first line of troubleshooting. Through RBA's and other built in automations, we are able to provide the NOC and support teams with automated outputs to help jump start any troubleshooting. We continuously see our network downtime decrease as we continue to innovate and automate processes in SL1.
  • Automated data collection after an event.
  • Dashboard automation via API to integrate new customers.
  • Automated network discovery.
SL1 stacks up well against the competition. The only product for the cost and features that compares is Solarwinds. Like any network monitoring product, the backbone needs to be up/down monitoring. SL1 does this well and allows for the flexibility to integrate and automate actions after an event is triggered. The main difference between Solarwinds and SL1 is that Solarwinds has more modules that provide IPAM, Netflow, and configuration management. With configuration management in SL1, SL1 could be a real game-changer of a product in the network monitoring space.
SL1 is well suited for monitoring small to large scale networks of devices. It is also well suited at handling multi-tenants within one SL1 product through the breakout of organizations. The issue with the organizations is that it needs to be more granular in some cases. Downstream suppression being one area where multi-tenants have to make a sacrifice and choose one option or the other. Some polling cycles could benefit from having organization standards instead of global standards.
