Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Skype for business was the foremost used instant messaging and video calling software used in my organization.
Previously it was used by whole organization but now it is limited to various teams in the organization, as another software are being used now.
Skype is used to share messages between colleagues, teammates any internal team messages. It is very easy to install and use.

Pros and Cons

Very good instant messaging app f[o]r organi[z]ations with minimal UI.
Easy to make video calls, phone calls.
One can share screen with everyone you are calling, helpful in case of showing presentation or giving lectures.
We can even make calls to particular phone number through Skype for Business.
Can share documents and files over Skype for Business app.

In todays scenario it is bit costly compared to other similar apps available in market.
UI is way too old. It needs redevelopment.
Searching old messages is problematic from [the] start of using this app. Search doesn't work good.
Number of person able to attend meeting is limited.

Return on Investment

It provides work of calling, screen sharing, files and documents sharing so [it] saves nearly 50% of expenses use[d] to buy different software for each work.
It is easy to install, easy to use and learn thus saving time, and time is money as we all know. Which leads to employees working on work they are assigned instead of giving time to learn Skype for Business.
Calling to phone numbers from Skype for Business is cheaper than network providers so again saving money equivalent to 5-10%.

Alternatives Considered

Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Skype

Skype for Business existing before all these other softwares were present.
So legacy is maintained by Skype.
Main feature that stacks up Skype against all of the mentioned apps is security provided by Skype for Business apps. As we all know Zoom was not at all safe to use as lots of data were getting leaked but in case of Skype it was never a problem. So Skype will always be on priority in case of security.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is well suited for every organization either it be small, medium or large who ever can afford it. Overall it is good app to start with but [a] little bit expensive.
Organization which just started functioning or are new comers which doesn't have big funding or budget can avoid Skype for Business as their instant messaging app and can opt for any other cheap apps.
