Overall Satisfaction with Slack

Slack has become our dominant communication medium. It has replaced email internally and now use it to talk with customers by inviting them as multi-channel guests. We created channels for our teams like Customer Success and Support to talk with customers more efficiently than over email. Our team also employs contractors, and we've been able to bring them into select channels as guests. We've also used many out-of-the-box integrations supported by Slack and other products in our tech stack to make notifications and alerts more centralized. The product has proven to be a valuable part of our daily operations.
  • Ease of use! Slack takes very little to get up and running. The interface is very intuitive!
  • Collaboration is where Slack shines. It is so versatile in bringing all our teams, customers, contractors and vendors in one place, replacing email.
  • Integrations! Slack integrates very well with many products in your tech stack. There's no custom work required.
  • Missed threads are a common complaint from my team. When viewing messages in the unread or threads, it's easy to get distracted and lose that message. Some of us are subscribed to 100 channels and if you don't remember where a message was, it can be hard to find it again.
  • The search function is not the greatest. It takes some getting used to the filters and options to be able to really narrow down your search.
  • Reliability is top for us and in the last 5 years, we've enjoyed very little downtime or degraded performance.
  • Security is very important and Slack offers this with 2FA and SSO; we use OKTA for our instance.
  • Integrations really propel Slack leaps and bounds ahead of the competition, so many apps integrate natively with Slack.
  • Slack has lessened our dependence on email which has increased communication and collaboration efficiency with our teams, customers, contractors and vendors.
  • The integration library has allowed our engineering teams to create so many alerts and notifications for our services and infrastructure; we can notify the right teams in a place where we're already hanging out and collaborating.
Microsoft Teams, Google Chat and Skype for Business were no match for Slack's features, ease of use and integrations. The other products feel like an afterthought or bundle as part of a more extensive offering, so they can't compete with Slack. Slack is easy to use for novice and experienced users; it is customizable and has endless integration possibilities.

Our team has been using Slack for 5+ years, and although we've been invited to test drive other products, like MS Teams, Slack remains the top-performing collaboration and messaging platform for our teams. Slack is so easy to use out of the box yet offers many possibilities for customization and integrations; this makes it a powerful tool compared to its competition.
