Solid choice with Splashtop
Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop
As a small IT business, we have been using Splashtop since March 2015. We use it for both unattended access and one-time SOS use. This gives us all the necessary connectivity to view and interact with client computers and support our customers. We have a license for each technician at our organization.
Pros
- Remote unattended on-demand access of any Windows PC or Mac
- One-time remote access to customer or would-be customers via an easy file download with randomly generated code.
- Simple setup and light footprint.
- Regular, transparently documented updates to their software
- Audit logs for all access, in case questions come up.
Cons
- Unfortunately, the word "splashtop" is not phonetically easy for our customers to distinguish over the phone, so it can be a real eye-rolling challenge to direct them to the one-time use code
- The SOS page is pretty easy to understand, but it needs even more simplicity for our clients. A big fat throbbing arrow pointing to where the download can be located would be helpful 8-p
- We save a TON of time using Splashtop versus driving all over Northern IL to end users, which in turn saves them money
- We saved an enormous sum of money switching to Splashtop from logmein (we have over 1000 endpoints)
Splashtop meets our security needs. It requires 2FA whenever a login from a new location is made. It allows us to require permission from our more 'sensitive' clients, and keeps audit logs for verification should the need arise. To my knowledge there has never been a breach.
Onboarding? I mean it was ten years ago. This is such an easy solution it's pretty self-explanatory once you get the correct licensing.
Yes - We replaced LogMeIn because they were jacking the prices up to an astronomical level. Splashtop offered a much better price, and, in my opinion, turned out to be a better product too.
