Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop

A tool to provide 'remote' access & support

Pros

  • The ability to remote whether on vpn, not on VPN, or on location\intranet.
  • Support for both Mac, & Windows
  • The convenient buttons on the top of the "ctrl-alt-del, disc, next monitor, etc.)

Cons

  • Hate the Splashtop screen that initially comes up to let you know you have successfully connected. It always 'gets in the way' have to close it out every time i sign into Splashtop for the first time.
  • While in App, no way to remotely request access from Splashtop admin while in the app to a node not listed on your.
  • Limited ability & flexibility to organize\customize nodes by the user of Splashtop. Any grouping is at the corporate level which causes friction.
  • The to provide quicker support faster remotely. Hard to put a price tag on that.
-24/7 support
-Love Chat support, however hat it when it is a Bot & not a person.
-When calling for phone support, the ability to talk to a 'US' Tech Support instead of Philippines or India. etc. The communication challenges that exist with are always to frustrating.
-Like the ability to be able to remotely open a ticket.
I support these features as long as the implementation of them are easy to setup and user friendly.
Captcha - does not work well
Our organization did have a good training or mechanism to introduce Splashtop before implementing it. Just kind of dropped it onto us. Perhaps a link to How to videos would be helpful to for this port.
Yes - real VNC

No control on what nodes could be visibility to some authenticated users.

Do you think Splashtop delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Splashtop's feature set?

Yes

Did Splashtop live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Splashtop go as expected?

No

Would you buy Splashtop again?

No

Remote features a +

Using it for remote 'support' for reasons already mentioned not as convenient.

Support for Android, iPhone, would also be a nice support tool.

The Web interface is a nice workaround when the desktop is not working, but it is not as straight forward.

Hello Lawrence, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are happy to know that you find the ability to remote in regardless of VPN status or location to be a major help, and that you value the Mac and Windows support along with the convenient in-session control buttons. We understand your frustration with the pop-up screen, but it is actually an important security measure to immediately confirm a remote session is active. Regarding access requests and computer grouping, we currently keep these functions centralized in the web console for security and corporate consistency, but we love your idea about letting team members request access from within the app, and we are sending that suggestion straight to our development team. We appreciate you taking the time to share these thoughts, as they are crucial for us to keep improving.
