Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop
We use Splashtop to augment our production VPN connection. If there are network issues with the VPN appliance, we still have the ability to connect through another connection to troubleshoot. It is just used for support and not across the whole organization. If the costs were cheaper and it could be configured for 2FA we would consider it for production usage.
Pros
- Easy to connect
- Quick to connect
- List of devices easy to choose from a list
- Interface is easy to navigate
Cons
- The resolution of the viewed monitor does not resolve the same way that remote desktop does, always seems to be smaller and have to increase resolution
- Where RDP connects to a single screen Splashtop connects to both sessions and forces you to swap back and forth to the monitors
- Should be able to configure 2FA
- For the annual cost it was cheaper than a VPN appliance
- Quick to deploy
- Able to connect from a variety of devices
I like the install of the client but was not aware the 2FA being available. I would welcome that feature. The encryption is up to industry standards, in my opinion.
I was able to get it up and running in a matter of minutes. We have added to two client machines and have several remote machines configured to use the access. There is a way to configure dual machine monitors but again the resolution is smaller than normal and you have to upgrade the service to obtain that feature.
