Overall Satisfaction with TeamViewer
In our specific business, we use TeamViewer to enable external companies to perform IT Infrastructure support and maintenance in isolated VLANs. The infrastructure is composed of scores of PCs isolated and protected by IT security conventions and specific firewall rules, while running specific 3rd party software applications, object of support and maintenance by the provider.
- Based on a cloud platform architecture it allows establishing securely and reliably remote connections between the initiator and the supported PC with 24/7 availability.
- It addresses any OS type: Windows, Linux, Android, to name the ones in the scope of our business, and any device type PC, laptop, tablet, server, smartphone, to name a few.
- It allows remote connection in complex IT network infrastructures, thank to the cloud access architecture.
- Integration with specific Corporate 2FA infrastructure through specific APIs.
- Secure session recording for legal reasons.
- SMS notifications.
- Addressed a serious business issue during the pandemic allowing remote access in complex network architectures, while on site support was prohibited.
- Established solution easy to setup with the contractor with very quick time to market.
- Session recording allowed to keep trace of activities, as one of the security pillars in a endpoint security perspective.
Along with TeamViewer we tested LogMeIn and RemotePC. In our environment we found LogMeIn offers a poorer user experience with more lag in the remote sessions in several circumstances, which was not the case with TeamViewer.
We also tested RemotePC. RemotePC is a fair tool, secure with good user experience, yet somehow we found that when it comes to features, mainly collaborative ones, we liked best TeamViewer.

TeamViewer is an established tool and one of the reason we choose it beside it's value for the money, features, security, device/OS coverage and user experience, was the easy adoption of the tool by our contractor. After taking the decision, testing it in a proof of concept environment with the contractor, we were able to setup the remote support in the production environment in no time.
Two factor authentication is a key feature in the IT security policy of our organization, as well as of contractor's. As such, we use it on a regular basis. Although, TeamViewer offers wide choice of two factor authenticators, we are looking forward for an API allowing to use our own corporate two factor authenticator, though.
