Overall Satisfaction with TriNet
We use [it for] HR/payroll across the entire company. We view it as outsourced HR/payroll, relieving us of the need for an internal HR/payroll person (our controller and I - the CEO - manage HR via TriNet). It makes us reasonably comfortable that we are compliant with state and federal regulations, and it allows us to offer good benefit packages to our employees.
- Payroll is correct and on time every single time - there has never been a mistake.
- We get good rates on health plan benefits for our employees, and a good selection of plans.
- Customer support at the account management level has been very good - in one example, we had an employee who was, unfortunately, going onto long-term disability. The insurance provider was acting problematic, and TriNet was very willing to go to bat for our employee to ensure she got the benefits she had paid for.
- The web site is antiquated compared to modern competitors like Zenefits or Gusto. Using reports feels like a time travel journey back to the file explorer in Windows 98. Looking up details about employees (e.g., start date) requires many clicks. The web site has recently been refreshed, which is a step in the right direction, but the underlying functionality is still painfully old.
- I would like TriNet to more proactively and in a way personalized for my company take responsibility for my HR compliance. For example, I regularly get automated emails telling me that a San Francisco ordinance may apply to me. TriNet should already know if it applies to me based on my employee headcount or another metric! The email should tell me that TriNet has already taken care of this issue, or that TriNet needs a specific piece of information from me. I find myself telling my account manage from time to time when he asks me a question that he should know that already, and it's TriNet's job not my job to manage the situation.
- Accurate payroll and good benefits are crucial for employee satisfaction.
- Confidence in HR compliance is essential for CEO job satisfaction :-)
- Allowing HR to be managed by controllers and CEO saves substantial time/money by eliminating need for internal HR role.
We started with TriNet before the other services were offered. We considered swapping to Zenefits, however there were many reports of payroll errors and benefits administration errors on their platform, and they ran into substantial compliance issues which made them unacceptable to us. TriNet had a strong reputation for reliability and integrity, which they have lived up to.
