Overall Satisfaction with Vimeo

We use Vimeo to upload our education videos to a learning management system for medical staff to view. Vimeo has provided my team the appropriate links and measurement data that shows viewing trends on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. I am also able to use the links in Vimeo to track and locate lectures in our LMS by using specific links to curate and store. So far, I have not experienced anything bad from Vimeo when I upload the medical lectures. The process to upload the lectures is quite simple, and our editing team does a great job in making sure the lectures are deleted and reuploaded after they have been edited.

Pros

  • Data trends when users view videos.
  • Organization of libraries is simple to manage.
  • Storage space is enough for my team to utilize.

Cons

  • Make drag and drop feature to upload videos easier.
  • More affordable options to upgrade account.
  • Live updates of viewing videos from multiple sources.
  • Fellows and residents can see videos at any time.
  • LMS can access videos in multiple devices.
  • Analytics reflect the viewing of all videos.
Vimeo is a pretty good tool for uploading videos and gathering information from the viewers. Vimeo allows me to control the content I create and define how I can elevate my team's ability to provide the necessary training to medical all medical staff. I especially like the option to embed video links within my LMS, so I can change them easily when a repeat course has been uploaded.
It is a similar alternative to Vimeo. It is a cloud-based video platform that offers a suite of tools for businesses to manage, deliver, and monetize their video content.

Do you think Vimeo delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Vimeo's feature set?

Yes

Did Vimeo live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Vimeo go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Vimeo again?

Yes

If you have little experience with video production, then Vimeo would be a perfect solution. The dashboard is simple to learn, and there isn't much to really do other than to upload videos, create a library for the videos, and give access to admins and other users to track and view videos on a regular basis.

Using Vimeo

8 - It helps with the collection of subspecialty lectures the fellows and residents attend to and review during their down time from the reading room.
5 - We have editors that process and review the quality and sound of the lectures in Vimeo.
  • Quality of lectures
  • Calendar of scheduled lectures throughout the year.
  • Keep a rotation of lectures that are replaced with better ones.
  • Gain analytics of viewed lectures.
  • Repurpose recent lectures
  • Review all lectures before they are posted in learning management system.
  • Combine lists of subspecialty and guest lecturers presentations
  • Ensure the department is able to recognize all lectures as a viable source of education.
  • Help prepare fellows with their board exams.
I usually extract the links of all lectures from the embed code, but now Vimeo is not allowing that feature. Instead, I have to copy the whole embed code and then extract the URL from the embed code separately. This process has become cumbersome and a bit of hassle since I don't need the whole embed code.

Evaluating Vimeo and Competitors

  • Scalability
  • Integration with Other Systems
I use Vimeo to enable the viewing of content and other related resources in desktop and mobile devices for all users.
Perhaps look into another video hosting platform that would allow the videos being presented into a compatible URL that works in other learning management systems.

Vimeo Implementation

Vimeo does provide the legwork of content curation and management of sources. The quality of content is not bad from a viewer's point of view. I think the analytics could use a little bit of improvement, only because my department has a lot of users.
  • Third-party professional services
Lafayette Hills Studios uses Vimeo to upload all our edited content and provides status updates of when the lectures have been reviewed.
Change management was minimal - Keep up with the lecture content for each academic year, from guest lecturers to reedits of previous lectures done by team lead specialists.
  • Assigning the right admins to manage videos
  • Having someone help review and edit the lectures weekly.

Vimeo Training

The product was easy to learn, and I would recommended it to anyone with previous experience in multimedia management.

Configuring Vimeo

I think the product's configurability was just right for my department and team. The turnaround time to upload the lectures has never been an issue.
Use only if you are using Vimeo for multimedia purposes. This could mean instructor led training or hosting resources on cloud based products.
No - there is no facility to customize the interface
No - the product does not support adding custom code
Nothing that I can think of at the moment.

Vimeo Support

The support I didn't need much help in. The website was easy to navigate and user friendly. If there was any real issue that I had with Vimeo, then I would definitely contact the support team.
No I did not purchase premium support for any reason. It just wasn't needed as an Instructional Designer.
Not really, I was able to figure most support on my own.

Using Vimeo

ProsCons
Like to use
Relatively simple
Easy to use
Well integrated
Quick to learn
Feel confident using
Familiar
Cumbersome
  • Uploading of videos
  • Separate folders to manage content
  • Adding users as admins.
  • Getting the link from the embed code

Vimeo Reliability

Vimeo does well with integrating videos in the Absorb LMS that I currently manage.
I use Vimeo all the time, and never had any issues with the system.
Vimeo does well in performance with systems with ease. I have not encountered any issues with loading pages or slowing down in other software or systems.

Integrating Vimeo

The integration with Vimeo has not been an issue. I have been using Vimeo for five years now, and it works quite well.
  • Absorb LMS
I only use Vimeo to upload lectures using the created URL for each lecture. The difficulty has been fairly easy, but now in order for me to get the URL, I have to copy and paste the entire embed code in a Word document first.
  • Microsoft Azure
Not that I am aware of.
  • API (e.g. SOAP or REST)
Know your system's compatibility before you are able to integrate with Vimeo.

Relationship with Vimeo

The sales process was straightforward and easy to process. I didn't have any issues with the vendor.
Most of the work was done prior to me joining my team five years ago. So I was able to see and understand the working relationship Vimeo has with my employer.
Everything works fine in Vimeo, and the users like the quality and sound of the lectures when viewed on Absorb LMS. They can view the lectures on the desktop and mobile devices.
The amount of space allotted for us to upload all lectures and costs to keep them there yearly.
Nothing that I could think of. Maybe changing the way of extracting the URL's from the embed codes.
