Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security

We are on our third replacement of the Watchguards, and the replacement process is always easy and fast. The new M390 models are extremely fast, and we are beyond happy with the performance.

  • The value of the M390 for the performance is a sweet spot
  • Easy to manage and adjust
Just to purchase it, we installed it ourselves. Claritech sold us the firewalls and was fantastic to work with, very responsive, and very helpful. Always answering any questions and even following up with us after the sale to ensure everything had gone well. Very happy to have a local company to offer these services.
It was smooth and without issue. Wish all implementations would be so smooth and easy.
Yes, it keeps things simple and not confusing to purchase. It is a refreshing change compared to other models. very straightforward.
Watchguard is much easier to manage at a much better price point. Fortinet is very good, but complex and needs more knowledge to manage. Sonicwall is not straightforward at all to use. Meraki is too basic.

Yes

Yes

Yes

Would you buy WatchGuard Network Security again?

Yes

Ease of use, simplicity of setup. Corporate use is fantastic with remote sites all using Watchguard. Watchguard covers most bases when needing a solution, except for the very very large installations, although with the new models that seem to be covered. I really like how easy it is to upgrade and replace older models with new models with very little change.

Using WatchGuard Network Security

2 - We are the IT department as well as the president of the company. He does everything while I focus on the IT infrastructure and security of the site. I look at after the servers and switches and firewalls as well as storage and any questions the president may have and research solutions for the company.
1 - You need to unbderstand how TCP ip works with the ports and protocols. You also need to keep up on emerging threats that occur as well as being very careful to ensure you minimize any vulnerability. You need to review logs and IDP alerts to ensure you are not chasing false alarms.

We just replaced our old M200's with the M390's and the performance increase is noticable. We will use these firewalls until end of life. We have been using Watchguards since 2010 and see no reason to stop. Thery are efficient affordable and support is good. Very happy with Watchguard Security.

Evaluating WatchGuard Network Security and Competitors

Yes - We looked at SonicWALL. It was not as user friendly to use although you could get very granular in settings, this is something we did not need, we also found the configuration to not be as easy as the Watchguard and it does the same features as the Watchguard but with higher operating costs and support costs.

We have used Watchguard since 2010 and we have replaced the firewalls twice with newer models and it is was just as quick as uploading the current configuration into the the new firewalls and there was no messing around with incompatible settings, which minimized our downtime.. It just worked, now we can take advantage of new features as they are released.
We would not have changed anything, excpet maybe stuck with Watchguard, the feature we needed the msot was the server load balanacing it is unfortunate, but understandable that Watchguard is one of the few who do that. It is not as good as a dedicated server load balancer but it fill the needs we have.
