Overall Satisfaction with Workato

Workato is both instrumental in core processes within Sales, Marketing, and Human Resources (CRM / 3rd Party Tools Integration) as well as a tool in developing proof of concepts that integrate our core platform with other systems (Salesforce, Dropbox, for instance), and leveraged by our solutions consultants and best practices teams.
  • Clear interface for intuitively creating powerful work flows
  • Insight/visibility to the status of jobs run, including key information at all steps useful for troubleshooting
  • support for a large array of relevant connectors, with flexibility to customize if not available
  • Customer support - responsive, but often not equipped to help efficiently identify root cause of issue. Need to improve escalation to technical resources and turnaround time
  • Recipe organization and sharing. Can be challenging to copy recipes, or grab recipes from publicly available site. There are often dependencies and errors that have vague descriptions.
  • Workato has enabled streamlining between key business systems such as CRM, Marketing Automation, and HR Operations; this has undoubtedly saved development effort and does not require a developer with coding skills to maintain. We have 2-3 business operations experts that are very skilled in solving problems and business process improvement. They use Workato to solve those problems and require very little pure programming to solve these problems. There's always the off case but it's the exception rather than the rule.
  • Workato has been a great tool to quickly create prototypes for our customers that integration our platform with other systems. Solutions Engineering can create production-ready applications in hours, and there is essentially zero cost to move from prototype to production.
  • Because of the rich connector Library, Workato has enabled use cases that make our platform and offering stickier, as we are able to position more complete solutions to our customers (which thus command more value). The solutions are differentiated as we can prove & deliver them very quickly, and if the connector does not exist Workato's solutions team is very open to partnering to help us create the SDK connector.
Workato is much simpler to learn and configure than Dell Boomi. While powerful, I struggled with Boomi's interface. I know Boomi is powerful and trusted by many enterprises, but it seems a little inaccessible to me - the learning curve is a little too steep and I don't have the time to invest.

Zapier, while very user friendly, doesn't offer the breadth of connectors and overall robustness that Workato does. Workato is enterprise-ready and a solution I feel comfortable recommending to more mature organizations.
Well Suited
  • Business Process Work Flows, File Management, Small/Medium # of Records Queried (<~1000)
  • Closing a sales deal in system one kicks off work flows in system two for implementation
  • Notification of key events in system one via text, outlook event, etc
  • While I note management of two-way integrations needs improvement, it is a strength of Workato and easier to set up here than in any other tool.
  • Support for connectors business processes require (Docusign, Dropbox, Outlook, Quick Base, Salesforce, etc)
Needs Improvement -
  • Management of two-way integrations. It's often a bit of a struggle to create the appropriate fields in both systems to ensure redundant jobs are not run nor infinite loops created. That said, Workato does provide some documentation to counter this.
  • Working with Large Data Sets (1000+)
