Overall Satisfaction with WP Engine

We use WP Engine for our managed WordPress hosting. They help make sure that our website is running quickly and securely. They provide a full solution for WP including daily backups, site transfers, and multiple development installs. There are other nice perks like automatically updating insecure plugins and WP versions and telling you if an update or install didn't complete.
  • Security - blocking unnecessary ports and logins and updating software automatically
  • Speed/reliability - They have a CDN program that keeps everything running smoothly.
  • Support - I'm always able to get someone on chat and they're always helpful. If they can't solve it right away they create a ticket and escalate it.
  • The pricing is high. You get what you pay for, but this isn't cheap and probably isn't for average consumers or people with basic sites.
  • Sometimes you'll have a wait to get someone on support chat. It's rarely awful, but prepare to wait a bit.
  • They've rolled out a lot of add-ons and potential upcharges. We have legacy pricing, but for new folks, it might be a little more difficult to parse.
  • Reliability
  • Security
  • 24/7 tech support
  • We have spun up a total of 9 different websites using WP Engine, with plans for more.
  • We routinely have +30k visitors/month to our primary sites
  • Our pricing has changed fairly little over the last 10 years.
WP Engine provides premium WordPress hosting. I haven't dealt with other dedicated WordPress hosts, except for WordPress.com by Automattic, which is good, but WP Engine is professional-grade, dedicated WP hosting. I have found that generally, non-dedicated WordPress hosting either doesn't give you the same degree of control or doesn't give you the security and reliability of WP Engine. Of course, proprietary site builders give you reliability but little control. WP Engine is a niche product, but it fills that niche very well.

Do you think WP Engine delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with WP Engine's feature set?

Yes

Did WP Engine live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of WP Engine go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy WP Engine again?

Yes

I'm a big fan of WP Engine, and if you're either hosting many sites, developing for a lot of clients, or a small to medium-size business I think WP Engine is a great fit. It wouldn't well for someone who wants to run their own blog or just a single site. In those instances, I usually encourage people to use proprietary site builders like Wix or Squarespace. But if you need the flexibility and scalability of WordPress and want really solid, reliable, and responsive hosting, you can't beat WP Engine.
