I work as direct support to our marketing solutions, assisting team members in various projects to help build media plans and packages to present to various clients. I work a lot with our research team to gather information and statistics for these projects. Adobe Campaign is great in helping us with implementing our workflow by collecting the information, categorizing it in appropriate fields, and helping me find the best solution to present it in the best way to both my team and clients.

Sailthru

Sailthru is great for any company that is looking to move up from an entry level email service provider like MailChimp. It does require quite a bit more engineering work than MailChimp, but the payoff is well worth it. Their support team is also top notch and quick to respond to all queries

  • The user interface is easy to navigate, even for beginners.
  • You don't need to know MySQL to set up workflows.
  • You can build personalized emails by using modules with contitions set by previous behaviours and interests.

Cons

  • It is not for SME, you must be an advanced marketer for the investment to pay off.
  • In Sweden consultants are hard to come by.
  • When setting end dates you must remember that the end-time is 00:00, so if you want your campaing to end midnight May 21st you have to change the end-time to 23:59 or set the end date one day later (i.e. May 22nd).

  • Sometimes there are glitches in sending newsletter tests over. There are some backend issues that sometimes arise - where we have had to contact customer support to trouble shoot the issue.

We feel that Neolane really adds value to our organization and has allowed marketing to progress - storing databases more efficiently, sharing campaigns across the world, pushing leads directly into our CRM system. We are very invested in the tool since we took a good bit of time to customize it, so I anticipate we will renew our use.

I would say that generally the knowledge of the support team we work with is good, great even.I can't say that they seem to be very interested or involved in trying to make the product work best for us.They do what needs to be done, and they do it well - but not really going the extra mile.

Their account management / sales staff doesn't seem to be taking the problems you experience very seriously - it took us 3 months and nudge emails to them every 2 weeks to ask for status updates (plus 6 different conversations with different people) to get a (very small credit) for a major issue, which in two months prohibited us from sending campaign emails for 2-3 days at a time.

Alternatives Considered

We used to use Experian, or CheetahMail as it's referred to. Overall with the cost of deployment and training there is not really a way of going back. Given the chance, we probably would have saved ourselves the cost and would have stuck with an SAAS agreement with either Experian or an equivalent.That is not to say that Adobe's Neolane is a bad product, in fact it's a fairly good product. However it needs a lot of polishing to become the all round pack it should be.

Sailthru is great for our newsletters. Moat focuses more on our online, mobile and desktop content, whereas Sailthru hones in on our newsletter traction.

Return on Investment

  • Neolane has allowed our worldwide teams to capitalize on each other's activities - we can store one campaign then adapt it for other areas of the world fairly easily.
  • Neolane has made us more efficient by allowing employees to speak the same "language" - prior to Neolane, we used many different systems and operated separately across marketing.
  • Neolane has slightly reduced the amount of data entry work in Siebel On Demand, since the two tools are able to "talk" to each other.

  • Sailthru allows us to see how well an ad in a newsletter has done by day and week -- allowing us to gift insight for our clients on their ads that ran that week.
  • Sailthru only gives you clicks and touch rates, where as other platforms go deeper and give you insight on hover rates and interaction time with our ads featured.
