Adobe Experience Manager

Adobe is an enterprise level software that is best suited for large amounts of web content. The entire web management experience is engineered around the author. It is a large solution with many capabilities readily available to you out of the box.

Salesforce Community Cloud

Salesforce Communities is well suited for our environment because it allows a nice way for our employees and vendors to interact with each other. It allows them to share ideas and help grow our brand. It is also nice that we can then compile this information and create new products to distribute to our sales force for them to sell.

We had and still have a fantastic experience using Adobe CQ. Lots of flexibility, great integration with other Adobe products we already use and a powerful technology make it a great fit for our corporate environment. Also as the community grows, it makes it easier to network with other developers and users to get new ideas on how to continue to get the best out of the software.

I personally feel that AEM is very intuitive to use from an authoring standpoint. The entire CMS was engineered around the author. Everything about AEM is geared to helping authors generate and maintain content. There are ways that tool tips can be customized so that any individual could simply hover over and be guided step by step on how to author web content

It's very easy to train users on this, even external facing customers. Our users were already familiar with Salesforce user interface since we use the platform for other reasons. We built custom Visualforce pages with a simple, clean layout so we didn't need to train customers. That's ultimately the goal for external facing stuff, that we don't need to train them; they just "get it."

It's delivered on our original requirements and we've found ways to grow its usage. We continue to build on our original success and we can report our data out to leadership to show a true return on investment which is great for growing support and expanding uses for the system.

Implementation

Adobe Experience Manager8.7

Depending on your individual needs, It is really quite simple to create an authoring experience for a website that looks really good. I have been part of many implementations and many teams and have seen many projects that were super successful and others that were not implemented well. AEM has room for a lot of flexibility in the implementation process compared to other CMS like SharePoint

Alternatives Considered

AEM provides a better way to control user permissions which Content Marketer is lacking. Moreover, the ability to integrate with the Adobe Target product provides a wider range of audience segments that can be targeted besides the default author-targeted functionalities. It really helps create a custom user experience for a variety of users that might be looking for different things on the site (for example, doctors vs. patients etc.).
