Actually, it depends on the size of the organization. Atera is not well suited for large organizations in my point of view, and also it is not well suited where policies are very strict. But I would recommend it because of the lower cost and the rich features it has. The biggest benefit of Atera is it is cloud hosted and the cost does not depend on the number of devices you register with Atera. The cost depends on the number of licenses you have purchased.

I think using a ticketing system is very easy to use and allows multiple teams to create help desks in the same portal. In terms of internal usage, I think this is a great option. However, suppose you're trying to keep internal items and external helpdesks in the same instance. In that case, this is not ideal, as there is no effective way to separate the two instances to protect internal data better.

    Pros
    Atera
    • Atera is doing good in the monitoring part as it is monitoring our complete infrastructure from the network to servers and also the end user devices.
    • Atera is good in the patching part as it is patching our Windows and Linux servers, end-user Windows systems, and third-party applications.
    • Atera is good in the automation process, and we can plan the execution of any task and schedule it. We have a lot of options here from CMD to PowerShell.
    • The Inventory part is also good, as we can see and download the Software and Hardware inventory from Atera. It will provide the details of all hardware and software, from OS details to applications.

    • Integration with many of the most common tools companies are using (Slack, MS Teams, Salesforce, ... etc)
    • Natural workflow with Jira (as product development / project management tool) which makes the full fix and follow up of the tickets / issues very easy to follow
    • Allow multiple different entry points and work flows for as many different needs your teams / company have

    Cons
    Atera
    • Atera is well-designed but still has some issues. In the patching part, the devices having low disk space in the C drive, will not download and install the patches. It should give room to clean the space and then patch the system.
    • It has a limited number of third-party applications that can be installed through it.
    • In some cases, Atera failed to update or remove those applications that were not installed through Atera itself. Only 10% we can say.

    • Navigating through issues outside of a kan ban board can be confusing and task heavy.
    • It's easy to clutter up the tool. It could use some easy clean up capabilities.
    • User interface is decent, but could use work to make it more intuitive.

As of right now, we have found nothing that can offer as many features as Atera does along with the affordability. They are doing monthly releases each month and not just making small changes (shared scripting library, chocolatey support, Install packages, Splashtop SOS support, Scheduled tickets to name a few). The uptimes are great and accessibility to the dashboard has yet to be limited. We are a happy customer and bordering on fanboy status now

Atera's remote monitoring feature is one of it's best features. The laptops and servers we used it on responded quickly to our administrative task requests and made our work light. We were able to increase the resources, manage patches, windows updates and quite a few other tasks remotely and that too 24×7.

If you're used to other tools in the Atlassian ecosystem, you'll feel right at home with JSM. It's also a platform that technical folk can easily pick up. However, I wouldn't recommend using JSM as a company's first jumping off point into Atlassian. There are a lot of other 'newer' tools that provide sleeker ITSM systems at a similar cost.

I can ask questions by email, or by chat, or by opening a ticket with them and they are always on it quickly. They also have a forum where other Atera users can help you if you need it, and you can also add feature requests via the forum.

I gave JIRA a 9 rating since for me JIRA works according to its purpose. Since there is a customer portal, our clients can leave a comment or communicate with us using the PR ticket that way it is easier for us to also request any additional information we need for our investigation.

Online Training was good and informative for new users adopting Jira Service Management. The Training helped to understand the product features, customization capabilities, and integration options with various tools in an enterprise organization, so the overall productivity and efficiency are improved at Blue Yonder. It also helps to timely address the incident tickets, user stories, and track and close them in a timely manner.

Because Atera is a much more effective and efficient solution to manage all our IT operations, it automates each of our business processes. It offers us the best support to respond to any problem that may arise. I think Atera is much more cost-effective and reliable; its value is justified with each function and satisfies all our business needs and requirements.

Zendesk is a similar ticketing system that our organization used before JIRA Service Desk. The main drawback of Zendesk was that it can only be used as a cloud service. This means that our company data would be living on the internet at the hands of their security team. Another drawback of this is the price is significantly more expensive rather than hosting it yourself. Zendesk does have some additional features such as commenting on multiple tickets at once that JSD does lack. However, switching to JSD was significantly more cost effective because we have the ability and the infrastructure to host our own ticketing system, something that Zendesk could not provide. Ultimatley switching to JSD saved us money and allows the ability for integration with all of the other Atlassian Suite products that we use on a day to day basis.

    • The intuitive user interface has enabled both users and support technicians to familiarize themselves quickly with the functionality, and the learning curve is less.
    • Some features need to be accessed through documentation; they're not available directly on the dashboard.
    • Sometimes, internet access plays a significant role, whereas low connectivity is a hindrance.

    • It is definitely cheaper than Salesforce
    • It allows the IT service desk to be more organized and respond more quickly to tickets, which can save time for both agent and requester.
    • Some things are "not quite there" developmentally, so this means that internal IT will need to spend more time developing and testing the product.
