Overall Satisfaction with Atera

Atera is a very useful tool for my organization.
We use it for monitoring and managing the IT infrastructure. We use it for monitoring our servers, end-user devices, and network devices for CPU, Memory, Temperature, and Hard disk utilization. It also provides the information of current logged in users.
Apart from these monitoring things, we can see the complete information of any device such as CPU, memory and hard disk types, last reboot info, company name and the complete device information.
Apart from these, we use it for patching of Windows servers, user systems and third party applications. We use it for third party application installation, removal and update. It is very useful in patching as we can schedule the patching for different customers and set the patch timing and also a notification message to reboot the system. We can provide the user a time frame window in which they can restart the system and after that it will be restarted automatically to install the patches.
It is very helpful in reports as well, because with Atera, we can download different types of reports such as Software and Hardware report. It helps to manage the software inventory as well.

Pros

  • Atera is very helpful in monitoring the servers and end-user devices for high CPU, memory, hard disk uses, and temperature monitoring.
  • Atera is good at installing third-party applications and also helps to remove it from the end systems.
  • Atera is perfect for patching as you can select the patches as per your need and reject those that are not required for you or going to disturb any of your internal applications.
  • Atera is good for managing software inventory as it provides you with the complete software list that is used in your infrastructure.

Cons

  • Atera is well-designed but still has some issues. In the patching part, the devices having low disk space in the C drive, will not download and install the patches. It should give room to clean the space and then patch the system.
  • It has a limited number of third-party applications that can be installed through it.
  • In some cases, Atera failed to update or remove those applications that were not installed through Atera itself. Only 10% we can say.
  • Atera is a very low-cost tool with a bulk of features, so yes, it has a good ROI.
  • The onboarding process is also easy as we have deployed it through Group Policy and as soon as a system joins our domain, Atera automatically installs on that system. Apart from that, we have other options such as direct MSI package, install via command line or with a link.
  • We have option to run scripts via Atera, so it is good to install a new software via script or to perform any task with script.
Atera is really helpful in monitoring as it provides real time monitoring of high uses for temperature of system, CPU utilization, memory utilization and current hard disk uses. With the help of these alerts, we manage our servers and make spaces, kill non useful services, and increase the disk spaces to run the infrastructure smoothly. Atera also have good automation features including the patching process and the option to run any script via Atera to automate the process. It has a lot of built in script that will help you a lot. It has now been integrated with the Copilot as well, which helps us a lot in the automation process.
Atera has helped us a lot to manage our IT infrastructure. From monitoring capabilities to managing power of this tool has helped us to save our time, cost and effort. We can connect our end-user systems with Atera using some third party integrated tools by default in Atera such as TeamViewer, Splashtop, AnyDesk, and ScreenConnect. We can then track the logs to see how our admins connected to end-systems and using which method.
With Atera file sharing system, we can look into the hard drives of the user systems and can move or delete any files. It help us to remove malicious files from user system without disturbing them and also help to move any exe file that help us to install that particular software on that system.
Atera's reporting feature is well designed as it can provide both software and hardware inventory at any time.
Atera is well designed for remote monitoring and management purposes. The other tools, such as ManageEngine Endpoint Central, are more focused on managing the endpoints and applications, such as installation or removal of applications, and blocking or whitelisting applications.
Atera is well structured for core monitoring and management purposes. It works like a well designed monitoring tool and at the same time works as a well designed management tool.
Price point of Atera is very low as compared to other applications and the main part is that it does not cost you for the number of devices it covered, instead it will cost you on the basis of admin licenses you have. You can have one license and under that you can manage thousands of devices.
Apart from this, Atera has a lot of tools that are integrated with it, and they are really useful.

Well Suites scenarios:
1. Atera is good on patching process as it gives you the room to manage the patches as per your requirements. It provides you to select the customer or folders or a single device. You can test the patches before deployment in test systems. Then add or remove a particular KB article as per your requirements and then proceed with the patching.
2. In the reboot process, we have configuration policies where we can set the notification message and reboot setting.
3. Monitoring of Atera is good as it gives real time monitoring alerts.

Less appropriate or improvement points:
1. Need to add more 3rd party applications in the software installation part.
2. Patching report should be more accurate.
