AWS Cloud9 vs. Egnyte vs. OneDrive

When I am working with a large team of developers. Also, when a security policy, you are not allowed to install any app on your laptop. Cloud 9 is well integrated with Cloud commit. So we don't have to spend time in configurations.

Egynte is best suited for companies that SharePoint is not the best fit for. This includes managers unfamiliar with SharePoint specifically, and those really looking for a replacement for a file server in the more traditional Windows sense. SharePoint has more or less done away with any management that resembles Active Directory or File Explorer. Egnyte's web portal is incredibly straightforward. I would say Egnyte is less suited for companies that have licensing access to SharePoint already and do not have a ton of files or granular sharing and security needs

I can speak from my own experience: in cases where workstations are switched every year or so, one drive makes it very simple to keep things synced, even for very large files. This is even true for large files (such as video or CAD files) that are enormous.

• It provides an extremely intuitive and easy-to-use interface, so adapting to it does not take much time.
• It contains the most common programming languages.
• It allows the export of files, either directly to the repository or to the team where you want it.
• It is housed in the cloud so you can work with it from anywhere.
• Allows you to share code or work on them with others in real-time.
• Does not require installation.

• Sharing files externally with passwords, link expiration and granular control of permissions
• File syncing across end-user devices using a client installed onto the computer for seamless integration for end-users as if they had mapped a drive directly to their machine
• Implements 2FA for secure access

• Allows for easy organization of documents
• Secures files separate from general documentation
• Allows for documents to be collaborated on in live real time with multiple editors accessing the same copy
• Provides online access across the globe to resources for teams development and project needs

• Confusing documentation - AWS's documentation remains quite confusing, and the layout of other services/settings that you have to use with Cloud9 can be a bit of a handful.
• Sometimes slow - As the size of a project increases, the editor gets increasingly slower, and starts slowing down the browser overall.
• Long setup process - The setup for Cloud9 can be hard and tough, especially since the documentation is quite hard to understand.

• The main drawback of the system that it is lacking in managing the uploading of large or huge files, even though the large files can be easily downloadable but the upload takes a lot of time.
• While uploading the system sometimes starts lagging and the file after sometimes needs to upload again.
• Egnyte is lacking in syncing multiple platforms at the same time. It gives access to one platform at a time which somehow hinders the work while migrating a large amount of data.

• Some functions and apps are not available to all countries/regions
• The one drive app takes too much space in mobile devices
• The apps for mobile devices lack some tools, like the option to search templates
• It could allow to manually plan when to sync, specially photos, which take long times to sync

We found that usage of Egnyte in our supported clients, with sufficient bandwidth, provided all the features and stability we required. The billing setup was fair and the support provided was ample for end users and well as our in house admins. There was a concern about high usage clients but this was taken into account during the vetting process.

I like Box better. If you sign into Microsoft using a personal account, be EXTREMELY careful. All of your downloads could suddenly be available to your entire company, and that is incredibly embarrassing. Did that happen to me? Not going to say, but just always check which MS account you sign into.

The interface for Cloud9 needs some improvement. It is simply not as powerful and intelligent as a local text editor would be and thus it lacks the capabilities of fast filling when coding. Otherwise, I think it has a fair interface that they have tried mimicking an IDE.

Really easy to use the interface. The web browser is very intuitive and I have not had any notable issues with this. It's easy to work on documents as a team, and the only issues we have to tend to come with Apple apps and downloading large files to WebEdit. It's very similar to the filing systems that come on Apple and Windows devices so not a steep learning curve.

Using OneDrive is very intuitive and has been improved over the years. It's just like using native file management on either your Mac or PC. It's drag and drop functionality is easy and it clearly shows when files are uploaded to the cloud or if there are errors

Egnyte works very well across all platforms and as an add-on to other programs. Load time is close to nothing. Reports can be made in no time as well. All in all no performance issues. We can see that it depends on the local network connection. If you're running with fiber there won't be any issues.

It has a good performance, the pages load normally, access to the files, management, reports, everything is working well. With regard to integration with other systems, we have not done so yet.

Customer support is managed by the Cloud support team. I won't be able to comment on details, but it's fast.

I never had to reach out to customer support for Egnyte. I don't know any coworkers who have had to reach out to Egnyte for support either. As far as I am concerned, the support team is doing a good job since I have not had to reach out to them.

It's a Microsoft product so there is a wealth of information online both from Microsoft directly and from millions of users but as a corporate user we also have access to direct Microsoft support through a variety of avenues (phone, email, etc.). This makes finding answers to issues more accessible, however, it does also mean that any new feature requests will get buried.

[AWS] Cloud9 offers specific features not available in the competition: Code collaboration using the chat features is the highlight which sets it apart. [The] code completion feature makes [it] very similar to the offline IDE like eclipse. It's much easier to use compared to Codeanywhere. It provides terminal access to EC2 instances and hence other amazon services.

At the time when this was implemented (over 5 years ago and still in production), there were issues with syncing and reliability that Egnyte did not have, and have continued to impress with. Other providers have improved a lot and Egnyte is fairly costly, but switching costs would be high to move away from it to similar solutions.

Box is another file-sharing application that is very similar to OneDrive. Box falls short of OneDrive in its syncing capabilities. OneDrive is very quick with syncing so you never have to be concerned that you are not using the most up-to-date materials. Box was always a bit delayed and did not always accurately sync across systems. OneDrive benefits from being backed by Microsoft, so you expect the connection across applications that it allows. OneDrive also provides consistency for use and intuitive understanding because of that Microsoft consistency. I'd prefer OneDrive over Box.

• OneDrive allows us to save much time on creating and archiving backup copies of our data. Microsoft gives a guarantee on the possibility of recovery of files or folders even from 30 days ago. It provides a great comfort of work.
