Sysomos was a social media listening and marketing solution for content discovery, planning, publishing, moderation, and analytics. Sysomos was acquired by Meltwater, and is no longer available, but the features of the former Sysomos are now part of the Meltwater platform.
If you need to characterize the loaded data with statistical parameters, it is preferable to do the analysis previously and only load the results for the software to show them. This does not detract from the software, it is simply impossible to "have the best of everything" in a single application.
If you work in strategic marketing, business intelligence or competitive intelligence then Digimind can shave hours of time off your daily monitoring routine. You no longer have to manually trawl the web looking for news and no longer miss any important developments thanks to Digiminds ability to monitor sites up to 4 times a day. However it is important to understand that you can only get out of Digimind what you put in, so there is some initial effort involved in order to build up sources for the tool to monitor and setup your own folder structure to save information.
Sysomos Expion is best suited, in my opinion, to offices where either you have only one moderator/manager OR where multiple users plan to manage a specific channel. Without live updates, it gets far too complicated for multiple users to manage the exact same workload
The response of the software to the requirements has been consistently fast. Only in extreme cases where the speed of the internet system present in the site where the tool is being used is extremely slow, we have recorded delays in accessing information.
The software allows the possibility of several people located in different geographic locations, simultaneously accessing the same information, without interfering with each other.
It has made it possible to detect "information gaps" that were thought to be non-existent, and that resulted in expedited decision-making, to try to fill the gap or to find alternative solutions, not initially contemplated.
Digimind Social is a great and unique platform for constant monitoring of social networks.
Its interface is user-friendly and straightforward, it has features that help us collect information of our interest.
We can monitor trends in real time.
It facilitates interaction with the audience and allows us to measure the impact of our management in the different social networks we manage in the organization.
Ad-hoc research. During planning phase of a campaign it is a helpful tool to understand the marketplace, key influencers and topics that engage a target demographic.
Post-event hashtag analysis. Rapid generation of reporting on efficacy of a campaign, key voices, topics that resonated, viral reach and more.
User interface. Friendly and accessible enough to minimize training needs and enable decentralized access, though we have found some hand-holding is still required to get the most out of the platform.
It is not functional if it is intended to be used in small mobile screens, since to achieve an adequate visualization of the maps and the side panel, at least one screen the size of a tablet is needed.
There are times when you do not want to show (for reasons of confidentiality or for commercial reasons, for example) all the data that is associated and loaded in the database. So far we have not found a way to load the data in a way that ensures that "sensitive data" is displayed only when desired, and not automatically with the data set in general. The option is possible. Research is continuing on this.
At this time, it’s hard to find any area of improvement for Digimind Social, especially after having used other tools, which are clunky and require more manual work to zero in on the information you need. The sentiment analysis is a tricky task for any tool and while Digimind Social is better at it than others, we hope they continue to hone its capabilities and are able to analyze a larger volume of data.
I have seen many different tools. As mentioned earlier the tool has a very nice dashboard and the sentiment analysis from Digimind is better than other tools that I have tried in the past.
There are two differentiating features that Sysomos MAP has that the competitor tools I have experienced (Radian6, Meltwater Buzz) did not: user-friendly Boolean queries for searches and near-real-time results. The former is important because, of course, your results are only as good as your search/campaign. With Sysomos, once you master Boolean queries (which isn't terribly difficult) you're set for creating any kind of listening report. I strongly prefer this to the "campaign creator" forms that other services provide. Second, Sysomos MAP returns results almost immediately - like a Google search. So if you get your results and see that you need to tweak your query - no big deal. Or if you have a last-minute request for a client - not an issue. Meltwater can take up to 48 hours for a search to fully populate. This is a major issue if you get your full set of results back and see that you need to adjust the query; you're looking at another two days of wait time. A long wait on results can also prove problematic in agency settings where clients or prospective clients often need results with a quick turnaround.
The product is very easy to use. The platform is visual and data is easy to read. Boolean construction can sometimes be difficult, but the boolean constructor tool is helpful for boolean beginners. For more experienced boolean constructors, the boolean display at the top is very helpful in identifying where there may be holes in the construction
Unfortunately, we have not had a great experience with customer support from Klear. In the sales process, they were very responsive and helpful, but when onboarded, it definitely changed. We are based in the US and our customer service rep is based in Israel, meaning our work hours barely overlap. Oftentimes we're waiting 24+ hours for a response, and when it's a time-sensitive issue (like the platform not pulling in Instagram Story data) we want it to be resolved as quickly as possible. Klear also has a chat feature for more immediate help, but we've experienced a similar situation there where it takes 12+ hours to get a response and it's usually from our customer service rep. Our rep is very nice, but also doesn't seem very knowledgeable about the platform, and usually can't provide an immediate answer to a question we ask and has to "check with her team."
With sincerity, the company has not opted in particular for any of these applications. It has evaluated the benefits and weaknesses of the named applications and other additional ones that are not included in the previous list. As it happens with almost everything in life: there are skills and potentialities of a software that are more applicable in certain fields of work, and for certain characteristics inherent to the data that it handles. Within this same company, there are applications that are more useful for a certain type of data and information and less versatile for others.
More important is the knowledge that must have, about the data and processes involved, the person who has the responsibility of selecting a certain software.
We've used Sprout Social & Hootsuite in the past -- and they all stack up pretty evenly. Sysomos has the same features as Sprout or Hootsuite, except their reports and analytics are a little more detailed. Hootsuite has a better social media management software and dashboard though
It allowed detecting "information gaps" in places where it was not expected that this scenario could occur.
It has made it possible to quickly visualize, locations where, although information existed, this information was relatively old, or of low quality compared to that which can be obtained with the most recent technologies.
The detection of these scenarios improved the level of satisfaction that the company routinely asks of its clients, who stated that they are highly satisfied with the level of knowledge that the company has in relation to information, especially the historical records, that in our field of action is of high importance.
As a business school professor teaching both MBAs and executives, I regularly use Digimind to demonstrate the power of social listening in various programs I teach. Digimind Social proved to be a solid, user-friendly tool that effectively show users the value of social media listening for various short-term (e.g., responding to angry customers) to long-term goals (e.g., managing online reputation, competitive analysis).
