SMTP2GO
Chose SMTP2GO
Well we used to use sendgrid in the past.
But their base plan shares an ip with others, which means that more often than not our emails were blocked
They changed they policy of connections to api and sdks. We found Smtp2go that has the same price range and so we changed for them.
Chose SMTP2GO
The deliverability and ease-of-use of SMTP2GO were the two main factors for me. sendgrid does have a little more functionality, but I didn't really use it.
Chose SMTP2GO
SMTP2GO ended up being cheaper and easier to use. SMTP2G0 fit our needs better partly because it was more compatible with older systems, but it also hit the mark in terms of price for scale.
Chose SMTP2GO
Our goal was to find a product what fit those needs:
  • Can be use with SMTP protocol to relay emails from our webhosting environment
  • Have an API to manage the account and offer the ability to also send emails
Chose SMTP2GO
Some of the other services are really good but with the ease of setting up sub-accounts, the success in not having bounced emails, or strange receiving issues, the platform being so easy to use, and great support when you need it. They just don't compare.
Chose SMTP2GO
Simpler, easier to use, and way more cost effective
Chose SMTP2GO
SMTP2GO was easy to use and set up without ever having to go back and figure out why emails weren't being delivered. When compared to other solutions that had all the features I needed (multiple authentication methods, DKIM setup, reasonable logging), SMTP2GO's pricing was a …
Chose SMTP2GO
SMTP is basic, and basic is all that we needed. Just a simple SMTP relay with DKIM, DMARC, and SPF so we can abide by best email practices this product was exactly what we wanted.
Chose SMTP2GO
The price is very important and the support provided by the company too.The price and accessibility of the plans is one of the important things that differentiate SMTP2GO from other companies. If my email delivery is little, I do not have to pay large amounts, I can modify it …
Chose SMTP2GO
I really like the interface of SMTP2GO and how easy it is to use. I tried the other products but at first, I was having trouble getting the emails sent, so then I opened a free account at SMTP2GO and haven't looked back since. I will continue to use this product as long as I …

SMTP2GO
It's great for any application that you need to track email receipt and recipient interaction, or with devices/programs that don't fare well with Exchange based email services. Don't try to set SMTP2GO as your outbound email server if you're using O365, that just isn't a possibility (not that I've looked into that setup).

Twilio
I found Twilio to be excellent and very easy to use for a programmer in all aspects related to voice, SMS, and other features utilizing their API. I found the node client to be excellent and helpful. We previously used the Apex client for Salesforce before it was discontinued. Although we try not to use Twilio from Apex anymore, using that client was easier than implementing our own.

Pros
ClickSend
  • You can add list of users just by uploading numbers CSV or by uploading detailed CSV.
  • You can generate quick campaigns just like in email, save templates with URLs, send immediately, or schedule for a certain date and hour. They have analytics, shared, and private numbers. I like that it is super straightforward.
  • You can make automated campaings that will be sent every time a new user joins a list. This you can do with 3rd-party integrations such as your own app or Zapier since ClickSend already has this integration.
  • Super cheap and it's what I like most. You pay for SMS in bulk with really competitive prices. Most SMS companies want to charge by the number of users, and when you have 32,000 active users or +130,000 users it just becomes expensive so ClickSend is the SMS solution.
  • In general, using ClickSend is quick and the learning curve for new users is flat since it's almost the same as an email marketing tool just for SMS and compressed.

  • Excellent services and support.
  • The omnichannel feature which allows agents to get request from all channels.

Cons
ClickSend
  • At times, the length of the text can feel quite short to keep it under a certain price.
  • Links sent through ClickSend are often marked as spam.

SMTP2GO
  • Might be nice to add a monthly good looking PDF report for subaccount users that can be branded and sent directly to the subaccount contact. A 'client facing' report that we can use to show our customers the email usage history.

Twilio
  • Segment’s email identifier is case-sensitive, which is ridiculous because emails themselves are not case-sensitive. This means that if I send a capitalized email address in an identify call, it will create a duplicate user rather than matching it with the lowercase email. I think this is a technical oversight that should be corrected.
  • I’d like to see more information about the eventual transition of existing Frontline customers to Twilio Flex
  • I’d like to see some integrations between Twilio Studio and OpenAI or another open source LLM to provide automated responses, if this hasn’t been done already
  • I would like to be able to drag and move the actual lines connecting the steps in Twilio Studio, sometimes mine can get pretty messy
  • I think a Bug Report form would be beneficial for developers

SMTP2GO
Reliability in email delivery is what counts the most. SMTP2GO is undeniably a winner in this category. The price is reasonable, therefore the RoI is excellent.

Unless we can get this handled quickly -- less than 1 week -- we will likely switch to another provider who, in my opinion, we'll have to spend close to $3,000 in development time to build a new integration for texting. Our clients need texting and I feel Twilio has failed us miserably.

Twilio
Twilio has well documented APIs and examples. There are several tutorials, videos and Q&As regarding their services. So, usability is very good. I must say that advanced knowledge of telephony, API/Programming and error-handling is essential to make good use of Twilio. It's not just plug-and-play unless you are integrated with a system that has all of the programming built for it.

Twilio
Twilio executes what it is designed to do: send SMS messages at scale while providing very good deliverability. I believe that Twilio is very good at what we use for adding SMS messages to our comms strategy. We can see those messages get opened and replied to, which is exactly what we are looking to achieve.

Support Rating
ClickSend
In general, support is good. Actually they usually write to you about things like when you upload your first contacts, send your first campaign, or when you forget to put the opt-out option. Of course, they are automated emails but it happens that if you reply to one of them a real support agent will attend to your case. If you have any doubt you can write directly to support by email. I'm not sure if they are using Zendesk or any other kind of program but they usually answer in less than 2 hours. Still, the option of an actual real-time chat is missing.

SMTP2GO
When I first contacted SMTP2GO while searching for a solution, they were extremely helpful and attentive. I think it only took two email messages to answer all my questions and make a decision. I don't think I've ever needed any support to implement and operate the several solutions I currently use with the SMTP2GO service. It just works intuitively and flawlessly.

Twilio
I have not had to communicate with Twilio support in the last 3 years but my past experience with them has been very positive. They replied to my previous requests promptly and kept me well informed to resolve my inquiries. With their documentation that's available, I hardly imagine why anyone would need to contact support since it's all there in a concise and easy to understand format. It would probably take you longer to type out a support ticket than to just open their doc websites.

Alternatives Considered
ClickSend
ClickSend is okay but limited in functionality as compared to HighLevel. HighLevel has more functionality and it is at a reasonable price point everyone. Apart from that support are the same for most platform and it is really great to have something that is easy to start using. Most important decision that someone have to make is what they want in these software.

It has been so long since I did my comparison with other products that no comparison would be valid today. It has worked so well at a price point that is so acceptable that I don't feel an urge to do the evaluation again.

We evaluated many fundraising-based text-to-give programs and found the subscriptions prohibitively expensive for our small scale and uncertain first few years of development. While we may be willing to invest that kind of money after discovering how things work, we're happy with Twilio now and have no desire to start over.

Return on Investment
ClickSend
  • The ROI is time. More time focused, less time distracted with a mobile device.
  • Early days, however the customer survey and marketing campaigns will hopefully yield results.
  • Customer adherence to appointments and/or rescheduling for missed appointments has drastically increased with the use of reminder and follow-up SMS options that normally wouldn't be used as often on a mobile device.

  • Allowed us to use the same SMTP information across the board for all customers instead of having them split between several accounts.
  • More cost efficient than paying for several different email accounts.
  • Created an additional layer of great customer service for us since SMTP information is able to be preprogrammed into the equipment before ever leaving our facility.
