Dameware Remote Support

One key item to consider is the user base. Are they typically all on the network where you can access them directly or is the majority of the workforce you are supporting with the tool remote? If they are always remote, I would probably seek another solution. There are solutions that have the client check in component allowing you to connect as needed without the user having to use a provided link. This may be for support or for updates, etc., that the admin needs to do.

LogMeIn Rescue

LogMeIn Rescue works great when providing technical support to end-users. We are a software consulting company that supports many end-users who are not always tech-savvy. I have used other remote access tools in the past which were cumbersome or complicated to get non-tech users to connect. LogMeIn Rescue works every time and is simple and easy to use.When installing updates on remote computers, it can sometimes take several hours and you often need to restart the computer. The unattended access feature works great in allowing the end user to not need to be present at their desk while we do our work.

  • DameWare has been a very reliable solution for remote support for out team.
  • With multiple authentication options, we are able to connect to computers that have been dropped from the domain.
  • The secure file transfer in DameWare provides and quick and easy way to pass files to/from employee computers saving us time during support.

LogMeIn Rescue

  • It is very easy to connect to a remote computer using this even if the user at the other end is not tech savvy.
  • It is reliable. We can't think of too many outages or instances over the last two years where we couldn't use it for an extended period of time. Very little downtime.
  • It works across PCs and Macs.
  • Automatic re-connecting options are excellent. You can reconnect from Safe mode, after a reboot and even after the loss of internet connection.
  • Built-in chat tool is excellent.

LogMeIn Rescue is a very powerful tool for a specific purpose. I don't use LogMeIn Rescue nearly as much as I use LogMeIn Pro/Central but as stated previously, it gives us much more flexibility with our support. I believe LogMeIn Rescue is a powerful tool for supporting non-company assets and it shines at it's job. For managing or supporting internal resources, LogMeIn Pro is a much faster/easier tool.

While, this seems like a redundant question that is asked in every module of this review. It is a good investment and the ease of use is primarily the main driving force. Like I said before, the cost savings and time management have been the assets as well. I would recommend it for any IT department

I have evaluated Zendesk but have not done a trial. I started with LogMeIn Rescue and have not changed as I didn't see anything that would benefit me more.
