Lumar
Chose Lumar
Lumar is great for what it does - tracking technical changes and opportunities for a site. It does so affordably as well. In my opinion it would be best compared to Screaming Frog as it does essentially the same thing but with less flexibility on the backend and a much cleaner …
Chose Lumar
Screaming Frog is somewhat quicker, and I prefer it for issues I need to check up on immediately. But for larger analysis and full site architecture audits, DeepCrawl has a simpler interface and allows for deeper insights without needing to dig around. I appreciate all the …
Chose Lumar
All of the products I have used have been amazing in their own way, but DeepCrawl makes it easier to put it into visuals. Sometimes when you look at results, it can be quite difficult to get something easy to understand. DeepCrawl gets rid of that, the results are so easy to …
Chose Lumar
DeepCrawl is a great tool when compared to other similar solutions. What sets it apart from the competition in my experience with it, is the convenience of the cloud. In addition to having a multitude of tools faced by a digital marketer in today's landscape from analysis of …
Semrush
Chose Semrush
Our company uses nearly every major SEO tool. Semrush has its advantage in its UI/UX and competitive landscape while others have their advantages in other places like bulk management, backlinks (Ahrefs) and, auditing (SF).
Chose Semrush
Semrush was more comprehensive than the other tools and better maintained. Our key requirements for a product were that we could use the data and that it was cheap enough for us to use across the business. The competitors either weren't well maintained, had poor quality …
Chose Semrush
In general SEMRush is a great value compared to most of these tools, particularly the very expensive "enterprise" tools.
Siteimprove
Chose Siteimprove
Siteimprove helps complement other SEO tracking tools by providing a different view of metrics and greater visibility into KPIs.
Chose Siteimprove
Compared to any other tool I've used, Siteimprove is the best. Many tasks that I used to do manually have become more accessible and faster due to it. The visual scanning of issues is what makes it the best. It's simple to find problems, fix them, and track how far we've come. …

Lumar (formerly Deepcrawl)
If someone is looking for a SEO tool that excels in finding technical issues for a site, Lumar is a fantastic choice. Not only does it outline everything that's wrong, it does a much better job than other tools as to showing you how it the issue is presented. For instance many tools could outline a temporary redirect on your site, but Lumar will show you where that redirect starts, if there's a chain involved, and why it's worth fixing

This is suited to plan for keywords in a single market, but it struggles when you need to consolidate several markets. It is well-suited to discover new keywords directly related to the ones being used currently to expand the content the company is creating to get better results.

Siteimprove works well for managing the health and performance of your customer-facing sites in terms of performance, digital experience, and accessibility. It also helps to define policies to proactively avoid experience breaks or issues for customers before they occur. It can improve by providing more options to configure policies for large sites with thousands of pages.

Pros
Lumar (formerly Deepcrawl)
  • Really good to understand when and where any issues are on the website
  • Helps full breakdowns for each website, to understand where to improve
  • Helps work out where content etc needs to be optimised, which can then be passed to the content team

  • Great visuals for keyword position tracking, love that you can see the page that is ranking
  • Enjoyed the auto-generated reporting feature (specifically in the context of keyword position tracking)
  • Shows many different and useful views for competitive research
  • Great templated keyword research tools for those who are not as hands-on with SEO
  • I LOVE the Keyword Magic Tool for honing in on longtail, high-opportunity keywords

  • User-friendly customisable dashboards, easy to make a dashboard from a template, or create your own, and add in whichever 'widgets' are relevant for what you are looking at
  • Flagging words to review, allowing users to check and confirm if the word is 'accepted' or is a misspelling

Cons
Lumar (formerly Deepcrawl)
  • I find the loading panel during a crawl to be a bit deceptive. It's very hard to tell how long a crawl will take—a more accurate estimate would go a long way.
  • I love the "fetch time" tab in theory, but I have a hard time believing it—not that the figure they give is untrue, but I find it at wide variance with other tools. PageSpeedInsights will have a site looking disastrous and DeepCrawl will log it all fetching "quick". But perhaps page speed is just notoriously difficult to assess.

  • Extra seats can be expensive, as [an] agency with multiple team members this can be frustrating
  • Backlink data is not great, misses out a lot of backlinks (better off using a specialist backlink tool like Link research tools LRT)
  • Tracking multiple keywords, across multiple clients can be costly

  • I don't like that there are different navigation paths to go from point A to point B. When I want to navigate to a specific place, I have more than one way to get there, which means I have to make a decision about how I want to there and I'd rather the designer make that design based on what would be most efficient for me.

Usability
Lumar (formerly Deepcrawl)
It's great once you know how to use it... That being said there can definitely be some hiccups trying to learn the program. Even when writing this review i originally gave it an 8 and realized how many things I didn't even know existed after using it for a couple of years. Not the best 'usability' if you can't even find all the features you might want to use.

The interface is a little less intuitive than it could be. The data is often available but filtering and manipulating the data can be a little difficult at times. Expanded comparisons would be helpful since most of the time seeing more than a few competitors at a time allows for a better sense of how to forecast.

Tool has undergone numerous changes, both to function and UX/CX. Makes it less than user friendly at times. But on the other hand, that does indicate a willingness to improve the product in a continual manner - which they've done nearly year after year - but it's always a case of who moved my cheese with each new iteration.

I liked the platform overall. It is a good crawler. I no longer use because it's duplicate of what I get with seoClarity. I did not give it 10/10 because sometimes I had a hard time isolating site areas that I wanted and didn't get much technical support from Conductor on how to use the tool

I'm in a FB group for Semrush paid users and it amazing! They are fast to respond, take suggestions and help with questions. I have not felt alone in using this product at all. Highly recommend their support team. When I had an issue I can jump into the group and they will help get me the right person to help or even tag their programmers to look at something that is going on. Love the group!

I've used support often and it has been responsive, thorough and considerate of our needs. I can get a tech right away, they understand the issue, and work with us to resolve it. Often the problem is with the site we are trying to scan, sometimes it is with their product. I appreciate that they go beyond support into continually helping us implement SiteImprove in more places with 3rd party integration.

All of the products I have used have been amazing in their own way, but DeepCrawl makes it easier to put it into visuals. Sometimes when you look at results, it can be quite difficult to get something easy to understand. DeepCrawl gets rid of that, the results are so easy to comprehend. I would recommend it to any data consultant (DC).

We have used both Ahrefs and Semrush extensively at our agency and Semrush remains the tool of choice. We find that Semrush has the largest selection of tools & features to use, with the highest accuracy, and provides top-tier analysis recommendations. It's really is the ultimate all-in-one tool when comparing other performance measurement tools in the digital marketing space.

We have used or tested other tools that get installed on a computer or that are hosted online, but none of them offer the features that come with Siteimprove. TotalValidator Pro will check your site for accessibility issues, but it is a manual check and there is no historical reporting. I can;t remember the names of the other online solutions, but even if they offered similar features as Siteimprove, they were all very expensive .
