Kaspersky EDR Optimum Features

  • Supported: Malware detection and prevention - Machine learning-based behavior analysis and a host of other detection technologies, together with prevention and automatic remediation features support threat prevention for endpoints.
  • Supported: System hardening - Machine learning is used in Adaptive Anomaly Control to automatically adjust system hardening settings to different user profiles. Flexible Application, Web and Device controls are also present.
  • Supported: Quick investigation - Endpoint alerts are enriched with context and in-depth data, collected in a single alert card. The spread-path of the threat and the actions performed on the endpoint are visualized in a drill-down graph.
  • Supported: IoC scan - Users can create an Indicator of Compromise (IoC) from an investigated file or import one from an external source. The whole infrastructure or a group of endpoints can be then scanned with automatic response options applied.
  • Supported: Automated response - Several ‘single-click’ and automated response options are available, like isolate host, prevent execution, delete or quarantine the file or scan critical areas.
  • Supported: Guidance - The alert card includes a guide with recommended actions when investigating and responding to threats.
  • Supported: Flexibility - The product is highly scalable, working on installations from 20 to 20.000 endpoints, with both cloud and on-premise versions available.

This item can always be improved, perhaps by pre-elaborating very long reports, such that they are built progressively so that when the user wants to consult them, the delay is minimal. It would also be interesting to have a warehouse of reports, which serves as a repository where they can be consulted whenever needed, adding AI capabilities that allow data to be linked together and improve the analysis and possible correlations of events.

I have been following the evolution of software for 10 years, we have not had any incidents during this period, if the product is configured correctly, using all available resources and at maximum levels, the attack margin is greatly reduced. the documentation on the Kaspersky EDR Optimum website is very complete, the forum and support complete the user experience.

It consume very less system resources. This is nice with single solution running many components i.e File Threat Protection, Mail Threat Protection, Device Control, Web Control and EDR

consuming just 68 MB System memory

Performance was fine, but not great. As said before, some users complained about resource consumption.
On the administration and reporting side, although the console was a little bit "old-fashioned", it loaded mostly quickly, and reports were generated mostly fast, so no complains on that side.
As we managed Kaspersky since version 10, using Kaspersky EDR Optimum was really easy to use and understand.

Kaspersky EDR Optimum has excellent use of resources in terms of processor and main memory consumption. On the other hand, it can be run on various operating systems, in particular I highlight the best performance we obtained on desktops with Windows 10 and 11. The complexity of its operation is basic.

I like everything to communicate and integrate with one another. The challenge I had with Kaspersky EDR Optimum is there isn't really a basic segmentation. You will need to spend time learning how to navigate through the software to find everything you want instead of it all being in one place. It will take a few weeks to months to get the hang of the software, but you will be glad you took the time to learn it.
