Overall Satisfaction with ActivTrak
ActivTrak helps us understand our resource usage across our team and where we can optimize our team. It gives us aircover of data to see if there are team members that need help in their bandwidth / resource management. Managers use it to better understand their team and needs. Its not meant to replace good management but an auxiliary tool to enhance their management capabilities
Pros
- Tracking the teams active time on their computers
- Providing the data to managers to see if there is anything to double click into. If an employee is underperforming and ActivTrak gives us data that shows bandwidth issues, we can address that with the employee quickly
Cons
- often times an employee questions the validity of the data or the categories of Active or Inactive. More clarity around how the monitoring works would be helpful
- The name of the program that is being installed should be more vague. We've had employees panic and start researching what is being installed. More discrete branding would be helpful
- we've discovered employees that were bad actors, either outsourcing their work or only working part time and discovering they had another job
- we've had an employee quit over monitoring them.
- activity monitoring - being able to see how much people are on their computers. We've made employement decisions over it and removed bad actors.
- the reports that show everyones amount of hours to understand who is working hard. Being able to reward hard workers.
With ActivTrak - we were able to monitor each department, sending the reports of weekly activity to each manager. For employees that were materially under in activity per our employment agreement, we would monitor their performance and leverage the data to back up our suspicions or validate poor performance to a lack of effort.
we never had an issue with burnout - it's was mainly used to find people who were working far less than they should be. We wouldn't call out anything within 10-15% discrepancy but if someone was consistently active for less than 50% of their expected 40 hours a week, we would use that information to ask them if they feel like their workload is light and if they could handle more projects.
less with process workflows but when managers would ask executives for more resources, we could run reports on their current resources and point to inefficiencies around their team's bandwidth and be able to solve for resourcing issues with their current team/budget vs. just blindly adding new headcount. It's been wonderful in that way.
We were referred to ActivTrak by our outsourced IT team and didnt really evaluate anyone else. We were looking for something simple where we could easily install and do basic monitoring. We didn't want to make the company feel like we were tracking detailed activity, so the fact that we could just monitor basic stuff was both helpful to us and not scary for the employee
