Overall Satisfaction with Apollo.io

I personally use Apollo.io primarily as a data sourcing platform. Within my org I do the bulk of the cold outreach, so I needed to use Apollo.io to source and scrape data. I needed to utilise different filtering options, and then enrich contacts with emails and mobiles. Beyond that I've also takena advantage of Apollo.io's email sequencing. I was able to use the lists I had built to run email sequences which has been really helpful as I was able to use Apollo.io's tool without signing up to another one.

Pros

  • Recognising email security when creating sequences
  • Mobile enrichment
  • Data sourcing filters
  • Easy to use UI

Cons

  • I find the search feature can be a bit hit or miss when searching with a contacts email address
  • When saving lists and switching between it often doesn't apply the filters correctly without a refresh
  • It could be easier to add secondary sending domains to an account
  • Allowed for me to create an outbound process from scratch as I had no data before
  • It has allowed me to book 4 meetings within the first two weeks of cold outreach
  • Outbound volume has gone from 0 activity per day to over 100
I found that I utilised two of Apollo.io's features - data sourcing and email sequencing, this has been great as it removed the need to purchase an email automation tool. However, I did find that Apollo.io didn't seem best optimised for actual cold outreach as the interface felt a bit disjointed, and wasn't best organised so I did end up utilising a different CRM to store my data from Apollo.io.
I haven't made much use of the AI tools available, I have often seen the prompts when sourcing data to integrate AI tools, however this isn't something I have used yet, so I can't say it's saved any time thus far.
I found the usability really simple to start with. I hadn't previously used Apollo.io for sourcing data, I had used other tools on the market, however after jumping into the tool and playing around with filters for just 5 minutes, I had already been able to set my filters for my ICP and build out lists and searches, so I think the usability is really easy to pick up.
I did find that it becomes a little bit trickier when diving a bit deeper into using it as your outreach tool, as I feel it is mainly optimised for data sourcing, however the UI is super easy to use so this shouldn't have been too much of an obstacle.
I have mainly utilised ZoomInfo for data sourcing in the past, and I found that Apollo.io was much easier to pick up and use, whilst ZoomInfo took a bit of a learning curve to understand how to set filters and best data within your ICP, I was able to pick up Apollo.io within 5 minutes which was super helpful. When comparing to Lusha and RocketReach, I only used those tools to find ad-hoc contact details, and I find that in general Apollo.io has much more information available than those two tools.

I have used HubSpot CRM in the past, and whilst I thought about using Apollo.io as my CRM, I found it to be a little bit more clunky that HubSpot, so I opted to use HubSpot again in this instance, and just export my data from Apollo.io into HubSpot.

Do you think Apollo.io delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Apollo.io's feature set?

Yes

Did Apollo.io live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Apollo.io go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Apollo.io again?

Yes

I find that Apollo.io is a great tool for data sourcing. It's got a great range of filters which make it easy to get granular with your search, I often find that a good number of contacts have mobiles and emails, and it's quite common that these numbers are also good quality.

I did find that when looking at Apollo.io on my first day, it seemed a little bit overly complex to use it as a CRM to dial from if that was your goal, I found that a contacts specific page is designed to display information as opposed to capture activity. Beyond that, it could be clearer that when you add contacts to a list this is going to automatically enrich and use credits.
