Overall Satisfaction with Atlassian Confluence

I am working in a software development company. In my role as a Product Manager, I need a reliable platform to create my requirement documents and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders. Atlassian Confluence serves this purpose perfectly. Due to the well-built integrations with the rest of the tools and services in the Atlassian portfolio, it is easy to connect the content stored within Confluence back to the work items in Jira, or the list of ideas on Jira Product Discovery.

Pros

  • Integration with the rest of the Atlassian services
  • Fosters collaboration
  • Constant improvements based on the users interactions and feedback
  • Easy to use

Cons

  • I would like to see some of the AI features in the lower price tiers as this can save me a lot of time
  • Having a reliable source of product requirements saves on the cost of rework and the team can focus on value creation items
  • If used properly the integrations between Confluence and Jira save a lot of time for the entire team to find requirements, collaborate, and navigate between the work items which increases productivity and drives a positive impact on the business as a whole.
The Atlassian team is doing a great job of capturing the users' wants and needs by monitoring the use of the product and gathering user feedback. For a while, I was adding a nice touch to my Confluence pages' titles by pasting emojis which made them stand out and the team enjoyed the approach as it made finding information a bit easier. Later, the Atlassian team introduced an emoji selector as part of the title setup. This is just a small example of how they keep an eye on users' behaviors and act accordingly. I have been using Confluence for about a decade and I enjoy it. I am also a fan of hotkeys and they offer a good set of such which saves me a lot of time when formatting product requirement documents or organising other information.
In the past, I have used MediaWiki hosted locally as well as Microsoft Team Foundation Server. Wiki was simply a nightmare so all the money saved from paying for Atlassian subscriptions was lost in time while trying to use Wiki and format something properly. I haven't used Microsoft TFS long before its rebrand so I can't comment on it.

Do you think Atlassian Confluence delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Atlassian Confluence's feature set?

Yes

Did Atlassian Confluence live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Atlassian Confluence go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Atlassian Confluence again?

Yes

I am using Atlassian Confluence for creating product requirements documents. It serves my needs well as I can create templates and reuse them later. After filling in the requirements documents I can easily link the m to concrete Epics and User Stories in Jira. This is extremely handy when developing cross-platform products like mobile applications as there is a single source of truth for all supported platforms. The built-in features for collaboration like comments and version history foster collaboration while keeping a record of the changes for future reference.
