Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce

Our organization's previous online catalog crashed and the developer wanted over $18k to fix it. We needed an online catalog solution that was affordable, quick to implement and had easy self-administration of the catalog content. With the BigCommerce solution, we were able to merge data from our ERP system into the BigCommerce template with ease. We imported over 5000 items, 150 categories, customized a free BigCommerce template and went live in just over a week. This process took over 6 months with our previous web developer and the functionality and ease of use was not even close to the BigCommerce solution. We ran into a few small questions about data mapping for the import but the BigCommerce team was right there. We were not used to a "web development" company providing answers and service within minutes of a request/question but that is what I received. Our customers enjoy the integrated chat feature which has enhanced our communication and customer relationships. I would highly recommend the BigCommerce solution but especially the BigCommerce team behind it.
  • No product is worth the investment without a prompt, competent team behind it. Customer service is A+ at BigCommerce.
  • Communication of updates and new features.
  • Ease of use. We can sort, search, and edit data without lag or waiting. Updates are instant with the click of the save button.
  • Due to price differences between international distributors, we do not sell from our site or post prices. Our issue has been that customers/potential customers have no way to request a quote. This would be all custom coding which is the what we have been running from and landed with BigCommerce. It would be nice if customers could generate a list of parts similar to the wish list that would come to us as a quote request.
  • The advance search option is not clear to customers. [It's] a little hard to find and use.
  • Reduced time to market with new products.
  • Instant offers to customers
While more customization may be needed for the stock templates. The BigCommerce solution is a match for most company needs.

1 - A basic understanding of computer workflow and image types.
  • Catalog that is easy to navigate and search.
  • Administration of catalog content
  • Instantly "live" updating.
  • Sorting machine parts down to third level BOM
  • Hope to have a quoting function in the future.
Does everything but one function and customers are using the chat function as a work-around.
