Camtasia brings needed features in an intuitive interface
Overall Satisfaction with Camtasia
Camtasia was originally purchased for training videos. Due to its simple and intuitive screen capture and annotation functionality, I personally have created hundreds of training videos in the last four years. Beyond training, Camtasia has also been used to create marketing videos, perform quick edits on live meeting/webinar recordings, take quick screen captures for technical support, and more. Camtasia has intuitive features and makes it easy for teams to integrate video quickly into market and client-facing activities. Perfect for those who use video as part of, not all of their job.
Pros
- Annotation tools: easy to call out video elements for viewers.
- Text overlay: makes instruction easy.
Cons
- Audio plugins would allow for better audio enhancement, editing.
- The narration feature doesn’t always trigger the video to play while you record. This makes it harder to make sure timing is correct.
- Camtasia has allowed us to provide asynchronous learning NT to clients.
- It has enabled us to communicate clearly to customers more effectively than text alone. It's faster than creating text and screenshot tutorials while consuming significantly less time than a live call requires.
For training and multi-departmental purposes I believe Camtasia wins due to:
1. A more intuitive, less technical user interface than Premiere.
1. A more intuitive, less technical user interface than Premiere.
2. Windows and Mac versions, unlike Final Cut.
3. Annotation features (arrows, boxes, etc) not found in Corel Video Studio Pro.
Couple this with features like narration, noise removal and basic, but useful audio editing features, Camtasia is FL great for users who don’t have the time to tweak and dial in other solutions in the market.
