Overall Satisfaction with Canto

We use Canto to archive our digital and print assets and artwork. We use this software to help us share assets and document with our clients and team members and it acts a central location to link out to common assets and documents that are available to download on our customer online stores and our corporate websites. Canto helps keep our most recent work available to our entire company, clients and vendors.

Pros

  • Version Control.
  • Search.
  • Visual display of assets and documents.

Cons

  • Folder structure could be more natural (folders vs albums). Some team members have an issue understanding what albums are used for.
  • Download and sharing buttons could be more obvious.
  • I could use the ability to share entire folders.
  • Alleviated labor hours on our creative team.
  • Streamline our workflow on our creative team.
  • Gained more business by having an extra perk for our clients (portals).
Canto had the best price point. It also allowed our assets to by accessed and shared easier among our team members, clients and vendors by the use of account and public links. The version control was the easiest to use. The searching, filtering and meta data was the most advanced out of the other software that we looked at.
The User Interface could be improved. It's hard for our team members to find the controls: filters, download and sharing. The folders and album folders structure seems to be a little awkward for our team to use.
The search and filter functionality is very powerful and once accessed easy to use.
Canto always had quick response to our issues. We even had an issue that occurred after a product update that was unique to our business and Canto spend the week resolving it for us with little friction and no charge. The training and start up sessions are also great and very helpful.

Great price point and bang for your bang compared to other leading DAM software. Canto is great for sharing your assets both internally and externally. It's also great for version control of documents and keeping your downloadable assets available on your websites and portals updated.
It's not that great for working or in-process documents systems.
