Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki MX
We implement Cisco Meraki MX devices both in our own IT practice and in our client's businesses. Cisco Meraki MX devices are the standard firewall that we recommend for making sure that all of our client networks are protected and that our team can easily manage remotely for our clients.
Pros
- The Cisco Meraki MX series is phenomenal at allowing us to remotely manage networks. So the devices usually act as the brain behind our client's networks, which makes it really, really easy for our team to take a look at what's going on in those client network environments, resolve any issues, and make sure that our client's networks are staying secure.
Cons
- They are well, they're very, very easy to use. They also lack some of the more complex customizability and complex functionality that other networking devices offer.
- It's been a very positive impact in terms of our operational efficiency. Because we can standardize all of our clients on the Meraki platform, and because the Meraki platform is so easy to use, deploy, and manage, it's really improved our taxability to respond to tickets, reduce downtime all in a way that's very simplistic and consistent across all of our different client networks.
The ease of deployment and management is the entire reason that we've standardized on the Meraki MX platform. The Meraki are very, very easy for our internal teams to manage and monitor for all of our client networks. They're very, very easy to deploy out in all of the various different networks that we push them out in. We manage so many different businesses, so many different businesses have different networks set up, but the Meraki MX is really, really easy to integrate into those networks regardless of how complex or simple or different each of those are.
We are really big on integrating into the entire Meraki line. We usually put in the MX device as the firewall. It often acts as the brain of the network, but we're also do a lot of Meraki switches, we'll do temperature sensors, we'll do Meraki cameras. All of this is to have this unified, cloud managed platform that's very, very easy for us to support and for our clients to support themselves.
We come across a lot of different products in a similar space, so we run across SonicWalls all the time. We run across Fortinets all the time. We're constantly looking, evaluating our tech stack to see what would make the most sense. And every time it always comes out for the Cisco Meraki line is always the best in class for us.

Cisco Meraki MX Feature Ratings
Using Cisco Meraki MX
15 - Several of our departments use Meraki MX devices. The IT and Cybersecurity departments use the devices to protect our own network along with our client's networks. Operations also uses the MX Device logs to make changes in business practices based on data. Our sales department uses MX devices for demos when selling to clients to protect their networks.
13 - Nearly everyone on our IT support team can support Meraki MX Devices. It takes a basic level of IT support, troubleshooting, and networking knowledge to support them, but the easy-to-use interface means that even most of our lower level technical staff can support them to a large degree. Firewall tickets don't always require a network engineer level of expertise to resolve.
- Securing our own organization
- Securing our client's networks
- Unifying all of our client's networks on a standardized platform
- We used Meraki logs in an apartment complex to prove that a resident's data was not stolen while connected to the free community Wi-Fi
- For property management companies, we've used web content filtering to prevent torrenting of copyrighted material on community networks. This has stopped ISP letters and reduced our clients' liability
- We intend to use APIs to connect Meraki and all of our security stack into an AI analysis tool to produce comprehensive, executive-level reports on the security of our clients' networks.
