ConnectWise Control - Wise Decision?
Overall Satisfaction with ConnectWise Control (formerly ScreenConnect)
ConnectWise Control allows us to remotely troubleshoot our clients' computer network issues easily. This saves us valuable time in not having to drive to and from customer sites to perform routine maintenance tasks such as software upgrades or system updates. It also allows us to cut down on engineer onsite work during large projects and installations which saves money for us and the client.
Pros
- Provides file transfer where other remote access tools only provide this with advanced subscription levels
- Allows both client install and web based access to customers endpoints
- Gives snapshot view of customer's PC and time of last use which is handy when determining if a customer's PC is free to use
Cons
- Would like to see the ability to group customers PCs into organisational level groups
- Could have automatic client updates
- Can be inexplicably slow on Windows Server 2008 clients
- Lower cost of software compared to competitiors
- Instant connections to client computers reduces logon issues such as forgotten AD credentials etc
- ConnectWise Control software more feature rich than competitors similarly priced offerings
I find that ConnectWise suits our purposes better than competitors' software offerings because it offers more features than competitors' similarly priced options and also more than some of the more expensive solutions on the market. The costs are easier to manage and the integration with ConnectWise Automate will be important for us when we eventually start using it. We replaced LogMeIn Central initially for cost reasons but then discovered ConnectWise Control was a far superior product than the standard LogMeIn Central product.
