Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox

I use Dropbox to shuffle photos between my phone and my computers for ease of transfer, and I also use it to send data from my astrophotography back home easily when doing remote astrophotography sessions. It is extremely helpful when I collaborate with other astrophotographers on sharing data between ourselves to end up with integrations that span 10s or hundreds of hours of total time on target.

Pros

  • Data collaboration and sharing
  • Transfer from mobile devices to computer
  • Remote astrophotography data transfer

Cons

  • More default features on home computer folder
  • Default detection of source files
  • Data de-duplication prompts by default
  • Has cut collaboration times for astrophotography down by at least 3/4
  • Has allowed multiple device transfer that saves hours of work
  • Has allowed me to get my astrophotos out before others on the same target in competitions
It has everything I need to do the work that I need to do and want to do. The performance is faster than Amazon Photos, OneDrive, and Google Drive for the things that I need to do to keep myself at the front of astrophotography and personal use for content creation.
Dropbox is faster, cheaper, and performs better than the other services I have used for the things that I need it to do. I have plenty of space and the transfer speeds are nice, plus the automatic synch is awesome, and unlike One Drive it doesn't try to rewrite all of my computers to match one by default.

Yes

Did Dropbox live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Dropbox go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Dropbox again?

Yes

It is perfect for remote data transfer from both mobile devices and remote computers when remote desktop is slow. The ability to access it from wherever I need to and on whatever computer or mobile device I want to use is a huge plus for Dropbox. The amount of data types I can use to store it and the speed of access are great!
