Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox
I use Dropbox to have the same version of files on multiple devices - t he main benefit is that I can use two separate computers in home and regular office, and I do not have to move with the devices when I switch. The second use is archiving documents, so they are easily available when I need to access them from other devices. Additional features - managing screenshots, archiving images and movies from my phone.
Pros
- Document sharing between devices.
- Archive and backup.
- Screenshot management.
- Search and remote access.
- File sharing.
Cons
- Exporting files in Android device. There is some unnecessary complexity.
- Dropbox is a fire&forget solution for me. I work with multiple clients, they share files with me. Putting everything in Dropbox saves me roughly 8-16 working hours per month, which translates into real money, or additional time for my family.
- Dropbox enables very good data migration between devices. Migrating to a new laptop usually took 2-3 business days in times before Dropbox. Now - it is limited to minutes. I need to do a laptop migration once a year or more, so this is like one additional weekend for me.
Dropbox is somehow easier to use, it is lighter and faster. Also the UX is more understandable and clear to me. I used Google Drive because it was a standard with one of my clients... But I really didn't like it. I truly hope, I will not be forced to use it again.
