Overall Satisfaction with Guru

We use Guru as a knowledge management tool at our Digital Advertising Agency. We were looking for a tool that could capture and share training, content knowledge for new employees, and learning, research, and standard operating procedures for current employees.

Pros

  • Easily captures knowledge in different environments.
  • Searchable and Organized to easily find what we're looking for.
  • Integrates well with our other software.
  • Maintenance of knowledge and information to keep it current.

Cons

  • Adding Google Docs and Videos can sometimes be challenging and not appear correctly for users.
  • Users don't always verify cards, leading to large backlogs of unverified knowledge.
  • Standardizing and organizing card formatting can vary widely.
  • Capturing Knowledge.
  • Searchable and Organized.
  • Integrates with other common software platforms.
  • Less time spent searching for information or how to do tasks.
  • Standardizing processes and ensuring employees follow these for time saved and higher work quality.
  • Increased productivity due to less re-learning and re-doing things that have already been done.
Guru was easier to organize and search compared to these other tools since it was built specifically for our use case. Since most of our work product and information lives within Google Drive, we considered this first, but it doesn't integrate well with other software and is difficult to organize and search to find what we need. Guru was quicker for our team to find the information they were looking for.

Guru works well for us as an advertising agency as a way to manage information and knowledge about training, document procedures, and add knowledge about publishers (i.e. rate cards, research, products). It's search functions work well and tags and boards help us organize information. Employees find Guru helpful and regularly rely on it instead of asking a colleague or searching on their own. As with any knowledge management system, it's a challenge for us to ensure Guru is always complete and up to date. Some users at our company are better and verifying and keeping cards up to date than others and some don't add knowledge to Guru. Guru attempts to help solve these issues by making Guru more accessible across a wide range of software tools and alerts. We find all of this helps, but the biggest place where this is lacking for us is Google Drive and G-Suite. It's difficult to ensure documents, presentations, and spreadsheets are turned into Guru cards.
