Overall Satisfaction with Hootsuite

My organization uses Hootsuite to manage social media accounts for digital clients from a variety of sectors (authors, brands, personalities, small businesses). We use the software to post content on their behalf (videos, photos, text, etc). It helps us schedule multiple posts at the same time without having to do it manually or log onto the social media platform directly.

Pros

  • Scheduling content
  • Ease of use
  • Priced well

Cons

  • Tagging Facebook pages
  • Increasing number of profiles
  • Allowing users to run analytic reports for more profiles
  • Time savings with scheduling
  • Community and content moderation
  • Enhanced data-driven decision making through reporting
Users can only be logged in and active on one device at a time (or they are logged out). This causes disruptions and delays in workflow. Additionally, there is very limited functionality when it comes to tagging other pages or accounts on Facebook and LinkedIn. Even so, it does make it a bit easier to schedule content versus doing it manually on the social media platform directly.
One of Hootsuite's main strengths is showing the comments and feedback on the content within its software and on the dashboard. This keeps everything in one place and offers enhanced access and usability for organizations and agencies like mine. It's also a great tool for scheduling content across multiple channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X) without having to log into multiple different platforms, such as Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn, and X separately. This saves us time and therefore money.
When it comes to price, Hootsuite comes in behind Sprout Social. It also is behind Sprout when it comes to how many profiles or pages users can use, manage, and analyze through its reporting analytic tools. But, Hootsuite does outperform Sprout Social in sentiment analysis and in its link shortening tools.

Do you think Hootsuite delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Hootsuite's feature set?

No

Did Hootsuite live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Hootsuite go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Hootsuite again?

No

Hootsuite is well suited for small social media agencies who manage a small number of social media accounts. It is not a great fit for medium or large sized organizations because users are limited on how many profiles and accounts they can load onto Hootsuite. I wish the tiers were more spread out to accommodate this; it gets very expensive very fast.
