Overall Satisfaction with Mailchimp

It's being used by the marketing team to send campaigns to our prospects as well as to send holiday campaigns to our existing customers. This has been helping us curate different lists, track, and analyze the recipient's behavior. The existing preset templates help us quickly create & A/B test campaigns with an industry-standard look and feel.
  • It helps me create industry-standard emails without needing any HTML coding knowledge.
  • The tool can integrate with a lot of other systems like marketing automation, content management and website tools making it easy to have a seamless experience.
  • It becomes expensive compared to other alternatives as the number of contacts gets higher. The pricing plan is not described clearly. Every time we need to verify that the contact in the system is there through a subscription page. Also, the free plan contacts were restricted to 2000 contacts in recent years
  • Though the user interface looks good at the first go. They keep changing it with every new update and it requires certain learning curve and time to get accustomed to it and execute campaigns or train other people.
  • Mailchimp keeps adding enterprise-level features like campaign automation, transactional services, and store syncing feature to aggregate customer data and purchase behavior. This has helped us not invest in expensive ESPs.
  • It prompts us to maintain a clean list that is curated and is in a way helping us not to spend unnecessary efforts and time into unwanted leads that are not really engaging in a conversation.
Eloqua had long term contracts and the starter plans started as high as $2000. Also, unlike Mailchimp, it misses out on integration with Google Analytics and takes a while to fix issues with implementation.
Sometimes the free plan offering multiple templates and campaign capability with the compromise of Mailchimp offers a great deal of relief for our individual projects or people establishing startups. Also, due to its stringent conditions, like if the subscriber opted for the list and adherence to GDPR policy, it offers a great rate of deliverability for all campaigns and helps us build a clean list of prospects.
Mailchimp offers the best of both worlds by offering easy integrations with other systems like Google Analytics, SurveyMonkey, Shopify, etc without paying for integration resources or tools. Also, it helps me manage my list, conduct A/B testing, create custom lists, and send a specific campaign. This way it acts as a one-stop-shop for all my nurturing and leads acquisition activities in one place.
I have been able to get 3 client deals by implementing end to end marketing campaign based on user behavior and segmentation. One thing I learned is to manage lists and drill down it into specific segments based on our business objective. It helps maintain clarity in terms of campaign outcome and planning.
Preset templates offer a great level of variety and also customization to our liking. We can also create multiple lists and then drill it down further if we don't want to send it to all and just send it to specific groups It's not suited for a naive email marketing user to understand the flow, navigate across different sections and organize files. Also, I find the support articles are not really visual or explanatory to figure out things by reading or watching videos.
