Overall Satisfaction with Mailchimp
I use Mailchimp to create monthly newsletters for my clients who are mostly in the creative industry (jewelry design and interior design). The newsletters are mostly used to direct potential customers to the respective client sites, whether it be to show off a new design project or a monthly special on their e-commerce platform. Driving traffic to their sites means more eyes on my clients work, and more real estate in the minds of their consumers.
Pros
- User friendliness - Super easy to use which is a win for saving time
- Free use - There's no catch on their free plan, and the amount of tools you have available within the free plan is more than most other email marketing platforms I looked into
Cons
- Very basic templates - Although very user-friendly, the templates don't allow for much space to move from their original design
- Steep Pricing - The free plan I'm on is great, but the minute I need to up my plan the numbers hike up pretty quickly
- We saw a 12% increase in mailer sign ups after 3 months of using Mailchimp.
- My Interior Design client had 4 people approach them for a quote after a mailer we sent out showcasing a new project they had just completed.
Mailchimp's customer service is really second to none, well at least in the email marketing sphere. Super helpful staff who are eager and willing to solve problems. The email analytics and reports are super detailed, making it so easy to get to know the consumer and their movements from our email campaigns.
The fact that Mailchimp synchronizes with my clients' Facebook and Twitter accounts has been super helpful. Gaining data from all our campaigns from their respective platforms has been invaluable information for my clients - for them to know that what I'm creating is actually working for their company is a big win for me!
As mentioned in the ROI section, having a client's product sell out of stock within a week of sending out a mailer was a massive achievement! I also learned from that campaign, in particular, how minor tweaks to my copy can make a huge impact on the response from a mailer - we had run the same special the year before, but changed the copy the next year and got a completely different response rate!
